Prayer Life –
Praying to Father Yahuah
Greetings in the name of Father Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. I pray this post finds you and your family living in the peace and blessings of Yahuah.
I have often been asked about how we should pray to Father Yahuah, what needs to be said, how we should address Yahuah and many other things that are all very good questions. We are only given one true outline of a prayer and that is from Mashiach Yahusha:
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 6:9-13 – “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amein.”
These instructions from Mashiach give us a general outline of how and what we should pray for and this outline will change slightly depending on the type of prayer we are praying.
In this series “Prayer Life – How to Pray to Father Yahuah”, we look at the different types of prayers that we may need to pray during our sojourn here. It is my goal to post a prayer topic and outline at least once a week to get this covered in a timely manner. As we progress, please feel free to reach out with prayer request or to suggest topics that you would like to cover on various types of prayers. There will be areas that I probably won’t cover but there may be a need for. If there are, please let me know as I learn right along beside of you as Ruach Yahuah Elohiym leads and guides us together in this journey.
So let’s get into it and learn what prayer life is and how we need to pray to Father Yahuah.
Introduction:
What does it mean to pray and why do we need to do it in our life? The word pray is translated from several different Hebrew words and the most common is SHW 4994 נָא (na) which means please, now or pray with synonyms of SHW’s 577, 2603, 6279, 6419, 6739 and 7592 which all basically mean to pray, to beg, to entreat and to intercede. Webster’s New World Dictionary of 1972 defines pray as: 1. original use – to implore or beseech (rarely used); 2. to ask for by prayer or supplication – to beg for imploringly; 3. to recite a prayer.
Part 2 to do with religion: 1. to ask very earnestly – make supplication to a deity; 2. to worship God as by reciting a certain set of formulas. Strong’s Greek Word (SGW) 4336 προσεύχομαι (To pray) is the word used when Yahusha tells His talmidiym how to pray and it means: to pray to Elohiym, i.e. supplicate and worship Elohiym.
We can see from the definitions listed with their sources above that to pray means to ask someone for something, to beseech, to beg for something or to ask very earnestly for something from someone or from a deity. It can also mean to worship Elohiym or another deity.
In this series, we will define “to pray” as the act of going in front of Father Yahuah to worship Him, to thank Him for His innumerable blessings, to get His guidance for our lives and just as the main form of communication we have directly with Father Yahuah through His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
As we journey through this series, we will look at the different types of prayers that we need to pray to Father Yahuah during our walk with Him and Mashiach Yahusha while we are sojourning in this foreign land trying to make the Kingdom of Yahuah Elohaynu our home.
Statement of my belief:
I believe, from what the scriptures say and revelation from Ruach Yahuah Elohiym, that we are to pray constantly:
Tasloniqiym (Thessalonians) 5:17-18 – “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of Elohiym in Mashiach Yahusha concerning you.”
I believe that through prayer, we don’t have to worry about anything, we receive the peace of Elohiym, it is how we give thanks to Yahuah and make our request known to Him:
Philippiym (Philippians) 4:6-7 – “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto Elohiym. And the peace of Elohiym, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Mashiach Yahusha.”
We should pray, talk with Father Yahuah, throughout our day because He is right there giving us each breath we breathe. He knows everything about us, even more than we know about ourselves, and we should openly share and discuss everything with Him. When we adapt this mindset, we come into the realization that we cannot hide anything from Him, and it deepens our relationship with Him because we no longer have to worry about hiding anything from Him because He already knows who and what we are, and then and only then, can we go to Him openly, naked just as He created us:
Luqas (Luke) 16:15 – “And He said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but Elohiym knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of Elohiym.”
Ivriym (Hebrews) 4:12-13 – ” For the Word of Elohiym is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do”
A Prayer to Start Your Day:
The best way to start your day and the way I start each day is in prayer to Father Yahuah. Below is a general outline of the prayer I start my day off with. This is only meant to be a guide and you should personalize your prayers to your individual situation because this is your personal communication with The King and Creator of everything, Father Yahuah Elohiym Tseva’oth!
1. Acknowledging Who I am Praying To
One of the most critical things to do when you pray is to acknowledge who you are praying to. In today’s world, the names God and Jesus Christ can mean anything as well as the names Elohiym, Yeshuah, Yahusha and Mashiach. We must ensure that we are praying to the Creator Elohiym, Father Yahuah Elohiym. The scriptures continuously tell us that we are under the covenant that was cut with Avraham , Yitschaq and Ya’aqov and extended to the children of Yashar’el:
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 22:31-32 “But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by Elohiym, saying, I am the Elohiym of Avraham, and the Elohiym of Yitschaq, and the Elohiym of Ya’aqov? Elohiym is not the Elohiym of the dead, but of the living.”
Dear Heavenly Father Yahuah, my Master, my King, my Everything, my Elohiym,
The Elohiym of Avraham, the Elohiym of Yitschaq, the Elohiym of Ya’aqov, the Elohiym of the children of Yashar’el,
I humbly come before Your throne of exceeding grace and sweet tender mercy,
Only through the mighty name and precious shed blood of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
2. Why I’m Praying
I come Father Yahuah to say thank You for allowing me this great honour and privilege to come before You once again,
I come to say thank You for the innumerable blessings You have bestowed upon my family, friends and myself.
I come Father Yahuah to bless, praise, worship, exalt, magnify and exalt Your beautiful, set-apart and righteous name, and
I come to tell You that with everything I am, I love You Father Yahuah.
3. Praying for Others
Father Yahuah, right now I want to thank You for the blessings You bestow upon my mother,
Thank You for all that You do for her and all the things you do through her for our family Father Yahuah.
I pray that You will be a shield of protection around her today to keep the demons and the devils away and to keep her safe both physically and spiritually.
Please continue to bless her and draw her closer to You through Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
Thank You for all you do for my mother Father Yahuah.
I thank You, I bless Your set-apart and righteous name and I love You Father Yahuah.
Using the format above, I then pray for other people in my life specifically by their names,
Then I pray for my general family, my friends and all of their families.
I then pray for my family in the faith, those whom I have met and those whom I have yet to meet, the ones who love Father Yahuah and His Son Mashiach Yahusha, who walk in the set-apart way guarding Torah and the commandments, who hold fast and strong to covenant Yahuah has cut with Yashar’el.
4. Praying for Myself
Below is just a sample of what I pray for each day and ask Father Yahuah to help me with.
Heavenly Father Yahuah, thank You for the innumerable blessing You have bestowed upon myself.
Thank You for waking me up with a portion of health and strength, and starting me on my way today,
Thank You once again for this opportunity to come before You.
I ask Father Yahuah that you order my steps in Your Word today and not let any iniquity have dominion over me,
Let me serve You in truth and ruach so that the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, the actions of my flesh and the desires of my soul may be found acceptable in Your sight and are a sweet smelling savour in Your nostrils Father Yahuah.
As I go through this day Father Yahuah, let me walk as close to Your Son, my Shepherd, Yahusha Ha’Mashiach as I possibly can.
Let Him use His rod to correct me and His staff to protect me today.
Thank you for the remission of my sins through the the shed blood of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach
Continue to give me understanding on how to love as You love,
Please remove my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh to love and forgive my neighbors.
Father Yahuah I ask that You continue to lead me in the way of Your Son Mashiach Yahusha
and give me understanding of Your Word and please write Your Torah upon the tables of my heart.
5. Closing
Father Yahuah, in the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach I pray this prayer and thank You for the innumerable blessings.
In the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach I bless, praise worship, exalt, magnify Your name and lift Your beautiful set-apart and righteous name above everything in my life Father Yahuah.
And its only through Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach that I can say that I love You Father Yahuah with all of my heart, I love You Father Yahuah with all of my soul and I love You Father Yahuah with all of my might.
I love You Father Yahuah.
Amein, Amein
Conclusion:
The key to a successful prayer life is not only knowing how and what to pray for but it is about being quiet, looking and listening for the answers Yahuah sends to after you pray to guide you along the way and to give you understanding of what His personal will is for your life.
I pray that this prayer to begin your day helps you in your sojourn here and allows you to have a more personal and intimate relationship with Father Yahuah through and with His Son Mashiach Yahusha.
Shalom,
Minister Morrow
