Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 1 thru 6:8
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 1
- In the beginning (Bere’shiyth) Elohiym created אֶת the heaven and אֶת the earth.
- And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Ruach of Elohiym moved upon the face of the waters.
- And Elohiym said, Let there be light: and there was light.
- And Elohiym אֶת saw the light, that it was good: and Elohiym divided the light from the darkness.
- And Elohiym called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
- And Elohiym said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
- And Elohiym made אֶת the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
- And Elohiym called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
- And Elohiym said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
- And Elohiym called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and Elohiym saw that it was good.
- And Elohiym said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
- And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and Elohiym saw that it was good.
- And the evening and the morning were the third day.
- And Elohiym said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
- And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
- And Elohiym made אֶת two great lights; the greater אֶת light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also.
- And Elohiym set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
- And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and Elohiym saw that it was good.
- And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
- And Elohiym said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
- And Elohiym created אֶת great dragons, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and Elohiym saw that it was good.
- And Elohiym blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill אֶת the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
- And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
- And Elohiym said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
- And Elohiym made אֶת the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and Elohiym saw that it was good.
- And Elohiym said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
- So Elohiym created אֶת man in His Own image, in the image of Elohiym created He him; male and female created He them.
- And Elohiym blessed them, and Elohiym said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish אֶת the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
- And Elohiym said, Behold, I have given you אֶת every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
- And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, אֶת I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
- And Elohiym saw אֶת every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 2
- Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
- And on the seventh day Elohiym ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.
- And Elohiym blessed אֶת the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which Elohiym created and made.
- These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahuah Elohiym made the earth and the heavens,
- And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for Yahuah Elohiym had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till אֶת the ground.
- But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered אֶת the whole face of the ground.
- And Yahuah Elohiym formed אֶת man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
- And Yahuah Elohiym planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put אֶת the man whom He had formed.
- And out of the ground made Yahuah Elohiym to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
- And a river went out of Eden to water אֶת the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
- The name of the first is Piyshon: that is it which compasseth אֶת the whole land of Chaviylah, where there is gold;
- And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
- And the name of the second river is Giychon: the same is it that compasseth אֶת the whole land of Kush (Ethiopia).
- And the name of the third river is Chiddeqel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Ashshur (Assyria). And the fourth river is Perath (Euphrates).
- And Yahuah Elohiym took אֶת the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to guard it.
- And Yahuah Elohiym commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
- But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
- And Yahuah Elohiym said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
- And out of the ground Yahuah Elohiym formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
- And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for the man there was not found an help meet for him.
- And Yahuah Elohiym caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
- And אֶת the rib, which Yahuah Elohiym had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
- And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
- Therefore shall a man leave אֶת his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
- And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 3
- Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which Yahuah Elohiym had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath Elohiym said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
- And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
- But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohiym hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
- And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
- For Elohiym doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as elohiym, knowing good and evil.
- And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
- And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
- And they heard אֶת the voice of Yahuah Elohiym walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and A’dam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahuah Elohiym amongst the trees of the garden.
- And Yahuah Elohiym called unto A’dam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
- And he said, אֶת I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
- And He said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
- And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
- And Yahuah Elohiym said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
- And Yahuah Elohiym said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
- And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
- Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
- And unto A’dam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
- Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat אֶת the herb of the field;
- In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
- And A’dam called his wife’s name Chuah (Eve); because she was the mother of all living.
- Unto A’dam also and to his wife did Yahuah Elohiym make coats of skins, and clothed them.
- And Yahuah Elohiym said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
- Therefore Yahuah Elohiym sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till אֶת the ground from whence he was taken.
- So He drove out אֶת the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden אֶת keruviym, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard אֶת the way of the tree of life.
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 4
- And A’dam knew אֶת Chuah his wife; and she conceived, and bare אֶת Qayin, and said, I have gotten a man from Yahuah.
- And she again bare אֶת his brother אֶת H’avel. And H’avel was a keeper of sheep, but Qayin was a tiller of the ground.
- And in process of time it came to pass, that Qayin brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Yahuah.
- And H’avel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Yahuah had respect unto H’avel and to his offering:
- But unto Qayin and to his offering He had not respect. And Qayin was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
- And Yahuah said unto Qayin, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
- If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
- And Qayin talked with H’avel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Qayin rose up against H’avel his brother, and slew him.
- And Yahuah said unto Qayin, Where is H’avel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
- And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto Me from the ground.
- And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened אֶת her mouth to receive אֶת thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
- When thou tillest אֶת the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
- And Qayin said unto Yahuah, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
- Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from Thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
- And Yahuah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Qayin, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Yahuah set a mark upon Qayin, lest any finding him should kill him.
- And Qayin went out from the presence of Yahuah, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
- And Qayin knew אֶת his wife; and she conceived, and bare אֶת Chanoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Chanoch.
- And unto Chanoch was born אֶת Iyrad: and Iyrad begat אֶת Mechuya’el: and Mechuya’el begat אֶת Methushael: and Methushael begat אֶת Lamek.
- And Lamek took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Tsillah.
- And Adah bare אֶת Yaval: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
- And his brother’s name was Yuval: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
- And Tsillah, she also bare אֶת Tubal Qayin, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal Qayin was Na’amah.
- And Lamek said unto his wives, Adah and Tsillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamek, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
- If Qayin shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamek seventy and sevenfold.
- And A’dam again knew אֶת his wife; and she bare a son, and named אֶת him Sheth: For Elohiym, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of H’avel, whom Qayin slew.
- And to Sheth, to him also there was born a son; and he named אֶת him Enosh: then began men to call upon the name of Yahuah.
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 5
- This is the book of the generations of A’dam. In the day that Elohiym created man, in the likeness of Elohiym made He him;
- Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called אֶת them man, in the day they were created.
- And A’dam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called אֶת his name Sheth:
- And the days of A’dam after he had begotten אֶת Sheth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days that A’dam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
- And Sheth lived an hundred and five years, and begat אֶת Enosh:
- And Sheth lived after he begat אֶת Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Sheth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
- And Enosh lived ninety years, and begat אֶת Qeynan:
- And Enosh lived after he begat אֶת Qeynan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
- And Qeynan lived seventy years and begat אֶת Mahalal’el:
- And Qeynan lived after he begat אֶת Mahalal’el eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Qeynan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.
- And Mahalal’el lived sixty and five years, and begat אֶת Yered:
- And Mahalal’el lived after he begat אֶת Yered eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Mahalal’el were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
- And Yered lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat אֶת Chanoch:
- And Yered lived after he begat אֶת Chanoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Yered were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
- And Chanoch lived sixty and five years, and begat אֶת Methushelach:
- And Chanoch walked with Elohiym after he begat אֶת Methushelach three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Chanoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
- And Chanoch walked with Elohiym: and he was not; for Elohiym took him.
- And Methushelach lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat אֶת Lamek.
- And Methushelach lived after he begat אֶת Lamek seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Methushelach were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
- And Lamek lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
- And he called אֶת his name Noach, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahuah hath cursed.
- And Lamek lived after he begat אֶת Noach five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:
- And all the days of Lamek were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.
- And Noach was five hundred years old: and Noach begat אֶת Shem, Cham, and Yapheth.
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 6:1-8
- And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
- That the sons of Elohiym saw אֶת the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
- And Yahuah said, My Ruach shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
- There were naphaliym in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of Elohiym came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became warriors and tyrants which were from everlasting, mortal men of the name.
- And Yahuah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
- And it repented Yahuah that He had made אֶת man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.
- And Yahuah said, I will destroy אֶת man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them.
- But Noach found grace in the eyes of Yahuah.
Haftarah Bere’shiyth (בְּרֵאשִׁית) – “In the Beginning”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 65:17 – 66:2
& Mishlei (Proverbs) 8:4-36
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 65:17-25
- 17. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
- 18. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Yerushalayim a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
- 19. And I will rejoice in Yerushalayim, and joy in My people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
- 20. There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
- 21. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
- 22. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
- 23. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of Yahuah, and their offspring with them.
- 24. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
- 25. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith Yahuah.
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 66:1-2
- Thus saith Yahuah, The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool: where is the house that ye build unto Me? and where is the place of My rest?
- For all those things hath Mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith Yahuah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My Word.
Mishlei (Proverbs) 8:4-36
- 4. Unto you, O men, I call; and My voice is to the sons of man.
- 5. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
- 6. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of My lips shall be right things.
- 7. For My mouth shall speak Truth; and wickedness is an abomination to My lips.
- 8. All the words of My mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
- 9. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
- 10. Receive My instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
- 11. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
- 12. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
- 13. The fear of Yahuah is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
- 14. Counsel is Mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
- 15. By Me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
- 16. By Me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
- 17. I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.
- 18. Riches and honour are with Me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
- 19. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and My revenue than choice silver.
- 20. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
- 21. That I may cause those that love Me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
- 22. Yahuah possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old.
- 23. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
- 24. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
- 25. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
- 26. While as yet He had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
- 27. When He prepared the heavens, I was there: when He set a compass upon the face of the depth:
- 28. When He established the clouds above: when He strengthened the fountains of the deep:
- 29. When He gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the earth:
- 30. Then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him;
- 31. Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth; and My delights were with the sons of men.
- 32. Now therefore hearken unto Me, O ye children: for blessed are they that guard My ways.
- 33. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
- 34. Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors.
- 35. For whoso findeth Me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of Yahuah.
- 36. But he that sinneth against Me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
Brit Ha’Dasha Bere’shiyth (בְּרֵאשִׁית) – “In the Beginning”
Yochanon (John) 1:1-14 & 15:1-14
Yochanon (John) 1:1-14
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohiym, and Elohiym was the Word .
- The Same was in the beginning with Elohiym.
- All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
- In Him was life; and the Life was the light of men.
- And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
- There was a man sent from Elohiym, whose name was Yochanon.
- The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
- He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
- That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
- He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
- He came unto His own, and His own received him not.
- But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of Elohiym, even to them that believe on His name:
- Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of Elohiym.
- And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Yochanon (John) 15:1-14
- I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Husbandman.
- Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
- Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
- Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.
- I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.
- If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
- If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
- Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My talmidiym (disciples).
- As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love.
- If ye guard My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love.
- These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
- This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
- Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
- Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
