49 – Parashat Ha’aziynu (הַאֲזִינוּ) – “Give Ear” – Month:12/11th thru Month:12/17th

March 1st thru March 7th

Devariym (Deuteronomy) 32:1-52

Devariym (Deuteronomy) 32

  1. Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
  2. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
  3. Because I will publish the name of Yahuah: ascribe ye greatness unto our Elohiym.
  4. He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: an El of Truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.
  5. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of His children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.
  6. Do ye thus requite Yahuah, O foolish people and unwise? is not He thy Father that hath bought thee? hath He not made thee, and established thee?
  7. Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy Father, and He will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.
  8. When El Elyon (the Most High) divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of A’dam, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Yashar’el.
  9. For Yahuah’s portion is His people; Ya’aqov is the lot of His inheritance.
  10. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.
  11. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
  12. So Yahuah alone did lead him, and there was no strange elohiym with him.
  13. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and He made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
  14. Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.
  15. But Yasharun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook Eloah which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
  16. They provoked Him to jealousy with strange elohiym, with abominations provoked they Him to anger.
  17. They sacrificed unto shediym (devils), not to Eloah; to elohiym whom they knew not, to new elohiym that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
  18. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten El that formed thee.
  19. And when Yahuah saw it, He abhorred them, because of the provoking of His sons, and of His daughters.
  20. And He said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
  21. They have moved Me to jealousy with that which is not El; they have provoked Me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
  22. For a fire is kindled in Mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
  23. I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
  24. They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
  25. The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
  26. I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:
  27. Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Yahuah hath not done all this.
  28. For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
  29. O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
  30. How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and Yahuah had shut them up?
  31. For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
  32. For their vine is of the vine of Sedom, and of the fields of Amorah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
  33. Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
  34. Is not this laid up in store with Me, and sealed up among My treasures?
  35. To Me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
  36. For Yahuah shall judge His people, and have compassion Himself for His servants, when He seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
  37. And He shall say, Where are their elohiym, their rock in whom they trusted,
  38. Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
  39. See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no elohiym with Me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of My hand.
  40. For I lift up My hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
  41. If I whet My glittering sword, and Mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to Mine enemies, and will reward them that hate Me.
  42. I will make Mine arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
  43. Rejoice, O ye nations, with His people: for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will render vengeance to His adversaries, and will be merciful unto His land, and to His people.
  44. And Mosheh came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Husha the son of Nun.
  45. And Mosheh made an end of speaking all these words to all Yashar’el:
  46. And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this Torah.
  47. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Yardan to possess it.
  48. And Yahuah spake unto Mosheh that selfsame day, saying,
  49. Get thee up into this mountain Avariym, unto Mount Nevu, which is in the land of Mo’av, that is over against Yeriycho; and behold the land of Kena’an, which I give unto the children of Yashar’el for a possession:
  50. And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aharon thy brother died in Mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
  51. Because ye trespassed against Me among the children of Yashar’el at the waters of Meriyvah-Qadesh, in the wilderness of Tsin; because ye sanctified Me not in the midst of the children of Yashar’el.
  52. Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Yashar’el.

Haftarah Ha’aziynu (הַאֲזִינוּ) – “Give Ear”

Husha (Hosea) 14:1-9

  1. O Yashar’el, return unto Yahuah Elohayka; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
  2. Take with you words, and turn to Yahuah: say unto Him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
  3. Ashshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our elohiym: for in Thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
  4. I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for Mine anger is turned away from him.
  5. I will be as the dew unto Yashar’el: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
  6. His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.
  7. They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the grain, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
  8. Ephrayim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From Me is thy fruit found.
  9. Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of Yahuah are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

Yo’el (Joel) 2:15-32

  • 15. Blow the shofar in Tsiyon, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:
  • 16. Gather the people, sanctify the assembly, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
  • 17. Let the priests, the ministers of Yahuah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare Thy people, O Yahuah, and give not Thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their Elohiym?
  • 18. Then will Yahuah be jealous for His land, and pity His people.
  • 19. Yea, Yahuah will answer and say unto His people, Behold, I will send you grain, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
  • 20. But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.
  • 21. Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for Yahuah will do great things.
  • 22. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
  • 23. Be glad then, ye children of Tsiyon, and rejoice in Yahuah Elohaykem: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
  • 24. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
  • 25. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, My great army which I sent among you.
  • 26. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of Yahuah Elohaykem, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be ashamed.
  • 27. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Yashar’el, and that I am Yahuah Elohaykem, and none else: and My people shall never be ashamed.
  • 28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Ruach upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
  • 29. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My Ruach.
  • 30. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
  • 31. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahuah come.
  • 32. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahuah shall be delivered: for in Mount Tsiyon and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yahuah hath said, and in the remnant whom Yahuah shall call.

Brit Ha’dasha Ha’aziynu (הַאֲזִינוּ) – “Give Ear”

Romaiym (Romans) 11:1-36

  1. I say then, Hath Elohiym cast away his people? Elohiym forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
  2. Elohiym hath not cast away His people which He foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Eliyahu? how he maketh intercession to Elohiym against Yashar’el saying,
  3. Yahuah, they have killed Thy prophets, and digged down Thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
  4. But what saith the answer of Elohiym unto him? I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Ba’al.
  5. Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
  6. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
  7. What then? Yashar’el hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
  8. (According as it is written, Elohiym hath given them the ruach of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
  9. And Da’vid saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
  10. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
  11. I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? Elohiym forbid: but rather through their fall yeshu’ah (salvation) is come unto the other nations, for to provoke them to jealousy.
  12. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the other nations; how much more their fulness?
  13. For I speak to you other nations, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the other nations, I magnify mine office:
  14. If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
  15. For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
  16. For if the firstfruit be set-apart, the lump is also set-apart: and if the root be set-apart, so are the branches.
  17. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
  18. Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
  19. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
  20. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
  21. For if Elohiym spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
  22. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of Elohiym: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
  23. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for Elohiym is able to graft them in again.
  24. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
  25. For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Yashar’el, until the fulness of the other nations be come in.
  26. And so all Yashar’el shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Tsyion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Ya’aqov:
  27. For this is My covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
  28. As concerning the besorah, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father’s sakes.
  29. For the gifts and calling of Elohiym are without repentance.
  30. For as ye in times past have not believed Elohiym, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
  31. Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
  32. For Elohiym hath concluded them all in unbelief, that He might have mercy upon all.
  33. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of Elohiym! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!
  34. For who hath known the mind of the Yahuah? or who hath been His counsellor?
  35. Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
  36. For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amein.
