Daily Readings

2ndday (Monday) – Shemoth (Exodus) 25:23-40 Yahuah gives the pattern for the table of shittiym wood overlaid with pure gold; He commands that rings and staves be made so the table may be carried, together with dishes, spoons, covers, and bowls of pure gold; He commands that shewbread be set upon the table before Him always; Yahuah then gives the pattern for the menorah of pure gold, commanding that its shaft, branches, bowls, knops, and flowers be made of one beaten work; He establishes the six branches proceeding from its sides and the four bowls upon the menorah, together with the knops and flowers; He commands that the seven lamps give light over against it, and that the tongs and snuffdishes be made of pure gold; Yahuah commands Mosheh to make all these things according to the pattern which was shown him in the mount.
1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 3:9-23Pa’al declares that those who serve Yahuah are labourers together with Elohiym and that they are Elohiym’s husbandry and His building; Pa’al establishes that no other foundation can be laid other than that which has been laid, which is Yahusha Ha’Mashiach; the works built upon that foundation will be revealed and tried by fire; Pa’al reminds believers that they are the temple of Elohiym and that Ruach Elohai dwells in them; therefore they must not defile the temple of Elohiym; he warns against trusting in the wisdom of this world and declares that all things belong to those who are Mashiach’s, and that Mashiach is Elohiym’s.

3rdday (Tuesday) – Shemoth (Exodus) 26:1-14Yahuah gives Mosheh the pattern for the tabernacle, commanding ten curtains of fine twined linen, blue, purple, and scarlet, with keruviym of cunning work; He establishes their measurements and commands that the curtains be coupled together with loops and taches of gold so that they become one tabernacle; He then commands eleven curtains of goats’ hair to be made as a covering upon the tabernacle, with loops and taches of brass to couple the tent together as one; Yahuah establishes how the remaining portion of the curtains shall hang over the backside and sides of the tabernacle; He commands a covering of rams’ skins dyed red and a covering above of antelope skins, providing the appointed coverings for the dwelling place.

4thday (Wednesday) – Shemoth (Exodus) 26:15-30 Yahuah commands that boards of shittiym wood be made standing up for the tabernacle, establishing their dimensions, tenons, sockets of silver, and arrangement on the south, north, and west sides; He commands additional boards for the corners so that the structure may be joined together; He establishes the bars of shittiym wood that shall hold the boards together, including the middle bar reaching from end to end; He commands that the boards and bars be overlaid with gold and that rings of gold be made for the bars; Yahuah commands Mosheh to rear up אֶת the tabernacle according to the fashion shown him in the mount.

5thday (Thursday) – Shemoth (Exodus) 26:31-37Yahuah commands that a vail of blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen be made with keruviym; He commands that it be hung upon four pillars of shittiym wood overlaid with gold and that it divide between the set apart place and the most set apart; He commands that within the vail the Ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat be placed; He commands that the table be set outside the vail and the menorah opposite the table on the south side, with the table on the north side; Yahuah then commands an hanging for the door of the tent to be made of blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen, supported by five pillars of shittiym wood overlaid with gold and set in five sockets of brass.
Yochanon (John) 2:15-21Yahusha enters the temple and drives out those who had turned His Father’s house into a house of merchandise; His talmidiym remember the words concerning the zeal of Yahuah’s house; when the Yahudiym ask Him for a sign, Yahusha declares, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up”; while they understand Him to be speaking of the physical temple, Yahusha speaks of the temple of His body, revealing that the true dwelling place of Yahuah is ultimately fulfilled in Him.

6thday (Friday) – Shemoth (Exodus) 27:1-19Yahuah commands Mosheh to make the altar of shittiym wood, five cubits long and five cubits broad and three cubits high, with horns upon its four corners and overlaid with brass; He establishes the pans, shovels, basons, fleshhooks, firepans, and grate of brass that belong to the altar; He commands that staves of shittiym wood overlaid with brass be made for carrying the altar; Yahuah then gives the pattern for the court of the tabernacle, establishing its hangings, pillars, sockets, hooks, and fillets on the south, north, west, and east sides; He establishes the gate of the court with its hanging of blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen; He commands that all the pillars round about the court be filleted with silver and that the sockets be of brass; Yahuah establishes the dimensions of the court and declares that all the vessels, pins, and pins of the court shall be of brass.
1st Melekiym (Kings) 5:26-6:13 Yahuah gives Shalomah wisdom as He promised him, and Shalomah begins the great work of preparing and building the house of Yahuah; the builders prepare costly stones and timber for the foundation and construction; in the four hundred and eightieth year after Yashar’el came out of Mitsrayim, Shalomah begins to build the house of Yahuah; the house is carefully constructed according to its appointed design, with chambers, cedar beams, boards, and prepared stones; and the Word of Yahuah comes to Shalomah, declaring that if he will walk in His statutes, execute His judgments, and keep all His commandments, Yahuah will perform His word spoken unto Da’vid and dwell among the children of Yashar’el.

Main Themes & Commandments

Giving Offerings to Yahuah From the Heart

The first instruction of Terumah begins with the heart. Yahuah commands Mosheh to speak unto the children of Yashar’el and receive an offering from every man who gives willingly with his heart. The offering was not to be extracted through force or compulsion but was to proceed from a willing heart that desired to participate in the building of the sanctuary where Yahuah would dwell among His people. The value of the offering was therefore connected not merely to what was given, but to the heart and willingness of the one who gave it.

This principle continues throughout Scripture. Yahuah desires obedience, worship, and giving that proceed from a willing heart rather than from outward obligation alone. The materials brought for the tabernacle were precious, but the greater offering was the heart that willingly surrendered what Yahuah had already provided to His people. In the Brit Ha’Dasha, Pa’al likewise teaches that the people of Yahuah are His building, showing that what we possess and how we use it should ultimately serve the purpose and dwelling place of Elohiym.

Shemoth (Exodus) 25:1-2 – “And Yahuah spake unto Mosheh, saying, Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, that they bring Me An Offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take אֶת My offering.”

Shemoth (Exodus) 25:8 – “And let them make Me a set apart place (sanctuary); that I may dwell among them.”

1st Hayamiym (Chronicles) 29:9 – “Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahuah, and Da’vid the king also rejoiced with great joy.”

1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 3:9 – “For we are labourers together with Elohiym: ye are Elohiym’s husbandry, ye are Elohiym’s building.”

2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 9:7 – “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for Elohiym loveth a cheerful giver.”

**Yahuah commands His people to give to Him willingly and from the heart. The commandment is not merely to give possessions, but to offer ourselves, our resources, and our service with a willing heart that desires to honour Yahuah and contribute to the work He has appointed.

Yahuah Desires a Set Apart Place to Dwell Among His People

Terumah reveals the desire of Yahuah to dwell among His people. He commanded Yashar’el to make Him a set apart place according to the pattern He showed Mosheh in the mount. Every part of the tabernacle—the Ark, mercy seat, keruviym, table, menorah, vail, altar, and court—was established according to His instructions. The sanctuary was not designed according to the imagination or preference of man, but according to the pattern revealed by Yahuah.

The purpose of the sanctuary was ultimately relational: “that I may dwell among them.” Yahuah desired to be in the midst of His people, and the tabernacle established a set apart place where He would meet and commune with Mosheh from above the mercy seat. The Haftarah shows this same desire continuing when Yahuah declares concerning the house Shalomah was building, “I will dwell among the children of Yashar’el.” The house itself was not the ultimate purpose; the presence of Yahuah among His people was.

The Brit Ha’Dasha reveals that the earthly tabernacle was a pattern and shadow of heavenly things, and that Yahusha is now the Minister of the true tabernacle which Yahuah pitched, and not man.

Shemoth (Exodus) 25:8-9 – “And let them make Me a set apart place (sanctuary); that I may dwell among them. According to all that I shew thee, after אֵ֚ת the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.”

Shemoth (Exodus) 25:22 – “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two keruviym which are upon the Ark of the Testimony, of אֵ֣ת all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Yashar’el.”

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 26:11-12 – “And I will set אֶת My tabernacle among you: and My soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your Elohiym, and ye shall be My people.”

1st Melekiym (Kings) 6:12-13 – “Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in My statutes, and execute My judgments, and guard all My commandments to walk in them; then will I perform My word with thee, which I spake unto Da’vid thy father: And I will dwell among the children of Yashar’el, and will not forsake My people Yashar’el.”

Ivriym (Hebrews) 8:1-2 – “We have such an High Priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which Yahuah pitched, and not man.”

**Yahuah commands His people to make and maintain what is set apart unto Him according to His instructions. The greater principle is that Yahuah desires to dwell among a people who honor Him, obey His Torah, and guard what belongs to Him set apart.

Mashiach Yahusha Is the True Tabernacle of Elohiym

The tabernacle given through Mosheh was a physical dwelling place established according to a heavenly pattern, but the Brit Ha’Dasha reveals a greater reality fulfilled in Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. Yahusha declared that if the temple were destroyed, He would raise it up in three days, and Yochanon explains that He spoke of the temple of His body. Thus, Yahusha revealed Himself as the true dwelling place of the presence and purpose of Yahuah among mankind.

Ivriym confirms that the earthly tabernacle was an example and shadow of heavenly things, while Yahusha serves as High Priest in the true tabernacle which Yahuah pitched. The physical tabernacle therefore points beyond itself to Mashiach. The Ark, mercy seat, priesthood, sacrifices, and sanctuary all point toward the greater work of redemption and mediation accomplished through Yahusha.

The presence of Yahuah that was manifested among Yashar’el through the tabernacle is ultimately revealed in Yahusha, who came among mankind and declared the greater reality of the temple.

Yochanon (John) 2:19-21 – “Yahusha answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Yahudiym, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt Thou rear it up in three days? But He spake of the temple of his body.”

Ivriym (Hebrews) 8:4-6 – “For if He were on earth, He should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the Torah: Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Mosheh was admonished of Elohiym when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath He obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the Mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”

Yochanon (John) 1:14 – “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Ivriym (Hebrews) 9:11 – “But Mashiach being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.”

The commandment is to recognize and honor Yahusha Ha’Mashiach as the true fulfillment to which the tabernacle pointed. The earthly sanctuary was a pattern, but Yahusha is the greater and perfect tabernacle through whom Yahuah has made His presence and salvation known.

Through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach We Become the Sukkahs of Yahuah

Terumah begins with Yahuah commanding Yashar’el to make Him a sanctuary so that He may dwell among them. The Brit Ha’Dasha carries this truth forward by revealing that the dwelling place of Yahuah is no longer understood merely as a physical structure made with human hands of gold, silver, wood, linen, and stone. Through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, those who belong to Him become the dwelling place of Ruach Elohai.

Pa’al declares, “ye are Elohiym’s building,” and then makes the truth even more direct: “ye are the temple of Elohiym, and that Ruach Elohai dwelleth in you.” This means that the believer’s life is not ruach independent or merely his own possession. Those who have been redeemed through Mashiach Yahusha are called to become a set apart dwelling place for Yahuah.

This connects the physical sukkah or tabernacle of Terumah with the greater ruach reality accomplished through Mashiach. Yahuah desired to dwell among Yashar’el; Yahusha came as the true tabernacle; and through Yahusha, the people of Yahuah become temples in whom Ruach Elohiym dwells. Therefore, our bodies, hearts, conduct, and lives must be treated as set apart unto Him.

1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 3:16-17 – “Know ye not that ye are the temple of Elohiym, and that Ruach Elohai dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of Elohiym, him shall Elohiym destroy; for the temple of Elohiym is set apart, which temple ye are.”

1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 3:9 – “For we are labourers together with Elohiym: ye are Elohiym’s husbandry, ye are Elohiym’s building.”

Yochanon (John) 14:23 – “Yahusha answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will guard My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him.”

2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 6:16 – “And what agreement hath the temple of Elohiym with idols? for ye are the temple of the living Elohiym; as Elohiym hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their Elohiym, and they shall be My people.”

**Yahuah commands His people to remain set apart because they are His dwelling place. Through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, those who belong to Him become the sukkahs—the dwelling places—of Yahuah, and therefore our bodies, hearts, minds, and conduct are to be surrendered to Him and kept from defilement.

Hebrew Link Words

Terumah (tə·rū·māh) (תְּרוּמָ֑ה) — “An Offering” Strong’s Hebrew Word 8641 [e]
The Hebrew word תְּרוּמָ֑ה (Terumah) which is simply translated as “an offering” in this instance. The actual definition of terumah is a present (as offered up freely) in sacrifice or as tribute and is from SHW 7311 ruwm (room) which means to raise up to a higher plane, movement upward and “to be high, exalted.” So we have an understanding that this word means a freely given gift upward to exalt Yahuah!
Father Yahuah didn’t need an offering from the children of Yashar’el to build a place for Him to visit them and to dwell among them because He walked in the midst of the camp. He did desire, just as He desires today, a set apart place to dwell and our adherence to His covenant with us.

Miqdash (miq·dāš) (מִקְדָּ֑שׁ) — “A Set Apart Place” Strong’s Hebrew Word 4720 [e]
The Hebrew word מִקְדָּשׁ (Miqdash), translated as “set apart place” or “sanctuary,” means a sacred or consecrated place set apart for Yahuah. It comes from Strong’s Hebrew Word 6942, קָדַשׁ (qadash), meaning “to be set apart, consecrate, or make set apart.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 25:8 – “And let them make Me a set apart place (sanctuary); that I may dwell among them.”
Miqdash therefore describes something separated from common use and dedicated to Yahuah. The tabernacle was not established merely as a physical structure, but as a set apart dwelling place where Yahuah would meet with and dwell among His people.
This points forward to the greater reality revealed through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, for Sha’ul declares, “ye are the temple of Elohiym, and that Ruach Elohai dwelleth in you.”
Miqdash teaches us that what belongs to Yahuah must be set apart for Him. Through Yahusha, we are called to be His set apart dwelling place, dedicated to His presence and purpose.

Betokham (bə·ṯō·w·ḵām) (בְּתוֹכָֽם) — “Among Them” Strong’s Hebrew Word  8432 [e]
The Hebrew word בְּתוֹכָם (Betokham), translated as “among them” or “in their midst,” comes from Strong’s Hebrew Word 8432, תּוֹךְ (tōwḵ), meaning “the midst, middle, or among.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 25:8 – “And let them make Me a set apart place (sanctuary); that I may dwell among them.”
Betokham reveals something important about Yahuah’s desire: He did not merely want a sanctuary separated from His people, but desired to dwell in their midst. His presence was to be among the people He had redeemed and called unto Himself.
This points forward to Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, through whom Yahuah dwells among His people. Yochanon declares, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” Through Yahusha, the dwelling presence of Yahuah is revealed in a greater way, and those who belong to Him become His dwelling place.
Betokham teaches us that Yahuah desires to dwell in the midst of His people. Through Yahusha, His people are called to receive His presence and become a set apart dwelling place for Him.

Yahusha Ha’Mashiach in the Torah Portion

  1. The Tabernacle reveals Mashiach Yahusha as the true Tabernacle, through whom Yahuah came to dwell among mankind. The earthly tabernacle was made according to the pattern shown to Mosheh and served as an example and shadow of heavenly things, while Yahusha, the Word made flesh, dwelt among us and is the Minister of the true Tabernacle which Yahuah pitched, and not man.
  2. The Ark of the Testimony reveals Mashiach Yahusha as the One Who bears and embodies the Testimony and Word of Yahuah. The Testimony was placed within the Ark, and Yahusha is revealed as the Word made flesh and the faithful Witness Who declares Father Yahuah to mankind.
  3. The Mercy Seat reveals Mashiach Yahusha as the place of mercy and reconciliation through whom we draw near to Father Yahuah. Yahuah declared that He would meet and commune with Mosheh from above the mercy seat, while the Brit Ha’Dasha identifies Yahusha as the One through whom mercy and reconciliation are made available.
  4. The Table and Shewbread reveal Mashiach Yahusha as the Bread of Life, Who came down from heaven and gives life unto the world. The shewbread was continually placed before Yahuah, establishing a pattern that Yahusha directly applies to Himself.
  5. The Menorah reveals Mashiach Yahusha as the Light of the world, Who gives light and life to those who follow Him. The menorah was made to give light within the tabernacle, and Yahusha plainly declared that He is the Light of the world.
  6. The Vail reveals Mashiach Yahusha as the living way into the Most Set Apart place, through whom the separation between Yahuah and His people is overcome. The vail divided the set apart place from the Most Set Apart, and when Yahusha gave His life, the vail of the temple was rent, while Ivriym explicitly identifies the new and living way through the vail with His flesh.

Reflection & Self-Study Questions

  1. Yahuah commanded that the offering for the sanctuary be given willingly from the heart.
What does my willingness to give reveal about the condition of my heart toward Yahuah?
Am I giving only when it is convenient, or am I giving with genuine love and gratitude?
  2. Yahuah desires a set apart place that He might dwell among His people.
Have I truly made my life a set apart dwelling place for Yahuah, or are there areas of my life that I have not surrendered unto Him?
  3. The Tabernacle was made according to the heavenly pattern shown to Mosheh, and Yahusha is revealed as the Minister of the true Tabernacle.
Am I allowing the heavenly pattern of Yahuah’s ways to shape my life, or am I allowing the patterns and values of this world to shape me?
  4. The table contained shewbread that was continually before Yahuah, while Yahusha declared, “I am the bread of life.”
Am I continually seeking spiritual nourishment from Mashiach Yahusha, or am I trying to satisfy the hunger of my soul with the things of this world?
  5. The menorah was established to give light within the Tabernacle, while Yahusha declared, “I am the Light of the world.”
Does the light of Yahusha visibly guide my words, decisions, relationships, and conduct, or are there areas where I continue walking in darkness?
  6. The vail separated the Most Set Apart place until the way was opened through Mashiach Yahusha.
Do I approach Father Yahuah with confidence through the way Yahusha has opened, or do fear, guilt, sin, or self-reliance keep me from drawing near unto Him?
  7. The purpose of the Tabernacle was that Yahuah might dwell among His people, and Chazon declares that the Tabernacle of Elohiym will ultimately be with men.
Since I am called the temple of Elohiym, what must I remove, surrender, or change so that my life more faithfully reflects the presence of Yahuah dwelling within me?
