The Gospel According to Marqus 11 (KJV-YS): Part 1

Overall Introduction:

Marqus chapter 11 introduces Yahusha’s pivotal final week in Yerushalayim, detailing His glorious entry as Mashiach on a donkey, followed by His symbolic cleansing of the Temple by overturning tables and His confrontation with religious leaders about His authority, all framed by the parable of the cursing and withering fig tree as a lesson on faith and judgment, setting the stage for His Passion.

Marqus 11:1-11 – Yahusha Entry into Yerushalaiym

Insights: The chapter starts with Yahusah sending two of His talmidiym ahead of Him to get a donkey for Him to enter into Yerushalayim as the glorious King that He is. The talmidiym go to get the donkey and it is given to them just as Yahusha says it will be. They then place their garments on the donkey to provide a seat for Mashiach and He rides it gloriously into Yerushalaiym where the crowd throws their garments and palm branches down in front of Him crying Hushana in the highest as Yahusha makes His way toward the temple.

“1. And when they came nigh to Yerushalayim, unto Beyt Pag and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sendeth forth two of His talmidiym, 2. And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. 3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that Adonai hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither. 4. And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. 5. And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 6. And they said unto them even as Yahusha had commanded: and they let them go. 7. And they brought the colt to Yahusha, and cast their garments on him; and He sat upon him. 8. And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hushana; Blessed is He that cometh in the name of Yahuah: 10. Blessed be the kingdom of our father Da’vid, that cometh in the name of Yahuah: Hushana in the highest. 11. And Yahusha entered into Yerushalayim, and into the temple: and when He had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, He went out unto Bethany with the twelve.”

Cross References Verses 1-11:

v1: “And when they came nigh to Yerushalayim, unto Beyt Pag and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sendeth forth two of His talmidiym,”
2ndShemu’el (Samuel) 15:30 –
“And Da’vid went up by the ascent of Mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 26:30
“And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives.”
Ma’asiym (Acts) 1:12 –
“Then returned they unto Yerushalayim from the Mount called Olivet, which is from Yerushalayim a Shabbath day’s journey.”
Reflection:
Getting close to Yerushalayim Yahusha stops at the Mount of Olives, possibly to rest, before He enters into the city near the temple complex.

v2: “And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.”
2ndShemu’el (Samuel) 16:2 –
“And the king said unto Ziva, What meanest thou by these? And Ziva said, The asses be for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.”
Reflection:
Yahusha sends two of His talmidiym to find the donkey colt as prophesied by Zakaryahu. It was a common practice in ancient Yashar’el for kings to ride on donkeys for different ceremonies to show their humility.

v-3:
“And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that Adonai hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 35:20-21
“And all the assembly of the children of Yashar’el departed from the presence of Mosheh. And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his ruach made willing, and they brought Yahuah’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the assembly, and for all his service, and for the set-apart garments.”
Ma’asiym (Acts) 10:36 – “The word which Elohiym sent unto the children of Yashar’el, preaching peace by Yahusha Ha’Mashiach: (He is Yahuah of all:)”
Reflection:
When Elohiym needs something, His Ruach provides it for those searching. Yahusha had need of the donkey for His peaceful entry in Yerushalayim and Ruach Elohiym provided it.

v4:
“And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.”
1stShemu’el (Samuel) 15:22 –
“And Shemu’el said, Hath Yahuahas great delight in ascending smoke offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Yahuah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
Ivriym (Hebrews) 11:8 –
“By faith Avraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
Reflection:
The two talmidiym were obedient to Yahusha and found what He had sent them for.

v5:
“ And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 24:1 – “The earth is Yahuah’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”
Qolasiym (Colossians) 1:16 –
“For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:”
Reflection: Ruach Elohiym not only allowed the talmidiym to find what they were looking for, it allowed those who gave the donkey the ruach to give it.

v6:
“ And they said unto them even as Yahusha had commanded: and they let them go.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 24:3
“And Mosheh came and told the people all the words of Yahuah, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which Yahuah hath said will we do.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 50:10-12 –
“For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.”
Reflection: Everything belongs to Yahuah and if we are obedient to Him, everything that He directs us to do will be accomplished.

v7:
“And they brought the colt to Yahusha, and cast their garments on him; and He sat upon him.”
1stMelekiym (Kings) 1:33 –
“The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your adoniy, and cause Shalomah my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Giyhon:”
Zakaryahu(Zechariah) 9:9 –“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Yerushalayim: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having yeshu’ah (salvation); lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”
Reflection:
The talmidiym bring the donkey to Yahusha and prepare it for Him to ride into Yerushalayim.

v8:
“And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.”
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:40 –
“And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before Yahuah Elohaykem seven days.”
Chazon (Revelation) 7:9
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”
Reflection: Palm branches symbolize victory, triumph, peace and eternal life in middle eastern culture and the people were showing and proclaiming this through their actions of humbly laying their garments and the palm branches on the ground for the donkey to walk on while it carried Mashiach into Yerushalaiym.

v9: “And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hushana; Blessed is He that cometh in the name of Yahuah:”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 118:25-26 –
“Save now, I beseech Thee, O Yahuah: O Yahuah, I beseech Thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of Yahuah: we have blessed you out of the house of Yahuah.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 62:11
“Behold, Yahuah hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.”
Ma’asiym (Acts) 2:21 –
“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahuah shall be saved.”
Romaiym (Romans) 10:13 – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of Yahuah shall be saved.”
Reflection:
The majority of the people believed Yahusha was the prophesied King that was coming to free them from Roman rule and setup the eternal Kingdom of Yahuah and they sang out Hushana which means please save or deliver us because they knew Yahusha was coming in the name of Yahuah.

v10:
“Blessed be the kingdom of our father Da’vid, that cometh in the name of Yahuah: Hushana in the highest.”
Husha (Hosea) 3:5
“Afterward shall the children of Yashar’el return, and seek Yahuah Elohaykem, and Da’vid their king; and shall fear Yahuah and His goodness in the latter days.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 148:1 –
“Praise ye Yahuah. Praise ye Yahuah from the heavens: praise Him in the heights.”
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 33:15 –
“In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto Da’vid; and He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.”
Luqas (Luke) 2:14 –
“Glory to Elohiym in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Chazon (Revelation) 22:16
“I Yahusha have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the called-out assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of Da’vid, and the bright and morning star.”
Reflection: The people continued to sing the praises of Yahusha, who they knew was from the lineage of Da’vid and the King they were hoping for, blessing and praising Yahuah as they went along.

v11: “And Yahusha entered into Yerushalayim, and into the temple: and when He had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, He went out unto Bethany with the twelve.”
Yechezq’el (Ezekiel) 8:9 –
“And He said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.”
Mal’akiy (Malachi) 3:1
“Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall preparethe way before Me: and Yahuah, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to Histemple, even the Messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, Heshall come, saith Yahuah Tseva’oth.”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 23:38 –
“Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.”
1stQorintiym (Corinthians) 3:16 –
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of Elohiym, and that Ruach Elohiym dwelleth in you?”
Reflection:
After His glorious and symbolic entry into Yerushalayim, Yahusha enters into the temple to see the sad condition it was in and then leaves the city for the town of Bethany with His twelve talmidiym.

Marqus 11:12-14 – Yahusha Curses the Unfruitful Fig Tree

Insights: The day following His glorious entry into Yerushalayim, Yahusha leaves Bethany and while He is walking He sees a fig tree, which symbolizes Yashar’el, and being hungry He goes to see if it had any fruit on it. When He gets to it, it is barren and has no fruit on it because it wasn’t the time for it to have fruit on it. This was representative of Yashar’el’s spiritual condition at the time and it caused Him to curse the fig tree.

“12. And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, He was hungry: 13. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, He came, if haply He might find any thingthereon: and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. 14. And Yahusha answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his talmidiym heard it.”

Cross References Verses 12-14:

v12: “And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, He was hungry:”
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:3 –
“And He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Yahuah doth man live.”
Ivriym (Hebrews) 2:17 –
“Wherefore in all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to Elohiym, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”
Reflection:
On the morrow, after the evening when Yahusha left Yerushalaiym to go to Bethany, He was hungry and wanted something to eat.

v13: “And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, He came, if haply He might find any thing thereon: and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.”
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:7-8 –
For Yahuah Elohayka bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;”
Husha (Hosea) 6:1
“I found Yashar’el like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Ba’al Pe’or, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.”
Luqas (Luke) 13:6-9 –
“He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, adoniy, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.”
Reflection:
The fig tree is representative of Yashar’el in the scriptures and this fig tree between the Mount of Olives and the temple was found to not have fruit, even though it wasn’t the time of year for it to have fruit.

v14: “And Yahusha answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his talmidiym heard it.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 5:5-6
“And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.”
Yo’el (Joel) 2:28-30
“He hath laid My vine waste, and barked My fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.”
Chazon (Revelation) 22:11-12
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
Reflection:
Yahusha wanted the tree to have fruit so He could eat, but the tree hadn’t produced any fruit yet and this upset Mashiach.

Marqus 11:15-19 – Yahusha Cleanses Yahuah’s Sukkah Built with Hands

Insights: The people were defiling the sukkah of Yahuah by selling items inside of it when there was only suppose to be praise and worship of Yahuah in it. They had put money above serving and honouring Father Yahuah and this greatly upset His Son, Mashiach Yahusha and He cleansed the temple by running the defilers out and then teaching the people until evening was come.

“15. And they come to Yerushalayim: and Yahusha went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; 16. And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. 17. And He taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 18. And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy Him: for they feared Him, because all the people was astonished at His doctrine. 19. And when even was come, He went out of the city.”

Cross References Verses 15-19:

v15: “And they come to Yerushalayim: and Yahusha went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves;”
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 15:13 –
“Thus shall ye separate the children of Yashar’el from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile My tabernacle that is among them.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 69:9 –
“For the zeal of Thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached Thee are fallen upon me.”
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 7:11 –
“Is this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith Yahuah.”
Yochanon (John) 2:13-16
“And the Yahudiym Pesach was at hand, and Yahusha went up to Yerushalayim, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not My Father’s house an house of merchandise.”
Reflection:
The prophecy had come to fulfillment in front of the people’s eyes and they were astounded but the Pharisees were angry because Yahusha was messing with their money.

v16: “ And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 40:9-10
“And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be set-apart. And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most set-apart.”
Yechezq’el (Ezekiel) 44:13-14 – “And they shall not come near unto Me, to do the office of a priest unto Me, nor to come near to any of My set-apart things, in the most set-apart place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed. But I will make them keepers of the charge of the house, for all the service thereof, and for all that shall be done therein.”
Reflection:
The temple of Yahuah is a set-apart place and everything in it must be cleansed and sanctified to be set-apart so it doesn’t pollute the temple. To have unclean vessels in it was abomination.

v17: “And He taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 2:3
“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahuah, to the house of the Elohai of Ya’aqov; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the Torah, and the Word of Yahuah from Yerushalayim.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 56:7
“Even them will I bring to My set-apart mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon Mine altar; for Mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.”
Zakaryahu(Zechariah) 2:11 –
“And many nations shall be joined to Yahuah in that day, and shall be My people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that Yahuah Tseva’oth hath sent Me unto thee.”
Chazon (Revelation) 7:9-10
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our Elohiym which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.”
Reflection:
The house of Yahuah is a place to that we are to draw near to Father Yahuah and have an intimate relationship in a set-apart way. Using it to rob the poor by selling sacrifices to them goes against everything it is supposed to stand for.

v18: “And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy Him: for they feared Him, because all the people was astonished at His doctrine.”
1stMelekiym (Kings) 18:17-18 –
“And it came to pass, when Ach’av saw Eliyahu, that Ach’av said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Yashar’el? And he answered, I have not troubled Yashar’el; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Yahuah, and thou hast followed Ba’aliym.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 49:7
“Thus saith Yahuah Lord, the Redeemer of Yashar’el, and His Set-apart One, to Him whom man despiseth, to Him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of Yahuah that is faithful, and the Set-apart One of Yashar’el, and He shall choose thee.”
Marqus (Mark) 1:22 –
“And they were astonished at His doctrine: for He taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.”
Marqus (Mark) 3:6 –
“And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.”
Reflection:
The scribes and the Pharisees had one thing right, they feared Him, but the rest of what they stood for was corrupt. The people were astonished at the doctrine that He taught because it was not for worldly gain but to praise and glorify Father Yahuah.

v19: “And when even was come, He went out of the city.”
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 1:3-5 –
“And Elohiym said, Let there be light: and there was light. And Elohiym saw the light, that it was good: and Elohiym divided the light from the darkness. And Elohiym called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
Luqas (Luke) 21:37 – “ And in the day time He was teaching in the temple; and at night He went out, and abode in the mount that is called the Mount of Olives. And all the people came early in the morning to Him in the temple, for to hear Him.”
Reflection:
Part one of the besorah of chapter 11 of Marqus comes to a close with the Light leaving the temple and the city to rest at the end of the day as it was from the beginning so He could prepare for the beginning of the day to come at sunrise.

Overall Reflection of Marqus 11 Part 1:

Part one of the besorah of chapter 11 of Marqus begins with Yahusha Ha’Mashiach coming to the outskirts of the city of Elohiym, Yerushalaiym, where He sends two of His talmidiym to get a donkey on which no one has ever ridden so that He can enter the city as the peaceful King. A crowd gathers, recognizing Him as this true King of Peace and they celebrate His glorious entry by throwing their garments and palm branches for His donkey to walk on, symbolizing their acknowledgment of His Kingship. After He looks in on the temple, He departs to rest and upon returning the next day, He sees a fig tree symbolizing Yashar’el, and is hungry but the fig tree has no fruit on it and it displeases Him so He curses the tree and continues on His way to the temple to find that it is in the same state as the fig tree, no producing good fruit. This enrages Yahusha causing Him to run the temple polluters out and teaching the crowd why He did this which in turn enrages the Pharisees and the scribes to want to kill Him. Part one ends with Yahusha leaving the temple and the city in the evening to go rest.
