The Gospel According to Marqus 5 (KJV-YS):
Introduction:
The fifth chapter of the Besorah of Marqus begins with Yahusha arriving on the other side of the sea from the closing of chapter four. There has been some minor debate as to if this was the Sea of Galilee or the Mediterranean Sea and that the account in Mattithyahu calls the inhabitants different names. The evidence seems to point to this was the other side of the Sea of Galilee and that the two different names given in the two accounts are names of the same group of people, who were in all probability members of the lost sheep of the house of Yashar’el.
On the other side, Yahusha continues His work of healing the sick and the casting out of unclean spirits (demons) from the man (men?).It appears He came to the other side with the sole purpose of freeing this man from Legion, the demonic infestation that had claimed this man’s life. Upon the healing of this man and casting the demons into the herd of swine, Yahusha and His group go back to the other side.
Arriving back on the other side, Yahusha is meet by many people before He even gets off the ship and one a ruler in the synagogue besought Him to come and heal his daughter for she was sick unto death. While He is going to the man’s house, the crowd is pressing against Him trying to get close to Him for various reasons. A woman with an issue of blood was among those in the crowd pressing against Him and she had the faith that if she could just touch the fringe of His garment, she would be made whole, and she was healed. Yahusha continues to the man’s house with the sick daughter only to be met by people saying she had already died. He then raises her from her sleep and commands them to tell no one and to get her something to eat.
Part 2 – Marqus 5: 21–43 – Faith in Yahusha Heals Flowing Blood and Raises the Dead
Verses 21-24: Yahusha Besought by a Ruler of the Synagogue to Heal His Daugher
“21. And when Yahusha was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto Him: and He was nigh unto the sea. 22. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Yairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at His feet, 23. And besought Him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray Thee, come and lay Thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. 24. And Yahusha went with him; and much people followed Him, and thronged Him.”
Insights: After Yahusha has healed the man and cast out the legion of demons, He returns to the other side of the Sea of Galilee and when He gets off the ship, the crowd immediately gathers around Him and a ruler of the synagogue begs Him to come to his house and heal his daughter before she dies.

Yochanon (John) 11:3 – “Therefore his sisters sent unto Him, saying, Adonai, behold, he whom Thou lovest is sick.”
Reflection: The ruler of the synagogue comes to Yahusha to ask Him to come to his house and heal his daughter before she dies. Yahusha goes with him to his house and is surrounded by the multitudes again.
Verses 25–34 – Faith in Yahusha Heals the Woman with the Issue of Blood
“25. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26. And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27. When she had heard of Yahusha, came in the press behind, and touched His garment. 28. For she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole. 29. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30. And Yahusha, immediately knowing in Himself that virtue had gone out of Him, turned Him about in the press, and said, Who touched My clothes? 31. And His disciples said unto Him, Thou seest the multitude thronging Thee, and sayest Thou, Who touched me? 32. And He looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before Him, and told Himאת all the Truth. 34. And He said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
Insights: A woman who had been sick many years and had spent all that she had to various treatments that didn’t work and she hears that Yahusha is coming through and she has faith that He will heal her and all she has to do is touch the fringe of His garment.
Cross References:
Bemidbar (Numbers) 15:38-40 – “Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, and bid them that they make them tzittzits (fringes) in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the tzittzits of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a tzittzit, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of Yahuah, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: That ye may remember, and do all My commandments, and be set-apart unto your Elohiym.”

Mattithyahu (Matthew) 7:7-8 – “ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
M’asiym (Acts) 3:6-8 – “Then Kepha said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach the Netseriy rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising Elohiym.”
Reflection: This woman’s faith in Yahusha is so powerful! She had enough faith that she believed Yahusha didn’t even have to know that she was going to touch Him, all she had to do was do it and she would be healed! Even though the woman’s faith was so strong, it didn’t stop Yahusha from knowing what she had done. She was healed immediately upon touching Him and feared because she knew that He knew what she had done. He then tell her to fear not daughter for your faith has made you whole. What a blessing it is going to be when we see Him again!
Verses 35–43 – Faith in Yahusha Raises the Synagogue’s Ruler’s Daughter
“35. While He yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Rabbi את any further? 36. As soon as Yahusha heard the word that was spoken, He saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. 37. And He suffered no man to follow him, save Kepha, and Ya’aqov, and Yochanon the brother of Ya’aqov. 38. And He cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39. And when He was come in, He saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40. And they laughed Him to scorn. But when He had put them all out, He taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with Him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41. And He took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. 42. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 43. And He charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.”
Insights: While Yahusha was speaking to the woman, people from the ruler’s house came and told them that his daughter had died. Yahusha then tells the ruler to not fear, only believe.

Conclusion: The second part of the fifth chapter of the Besorah of Marqus Yahusha returns to the other side of the Sea of Galilee to once again be surrounded and pressed upon by the multitudes. A ruler of the synagogue, possibly in one of the synagogues Yahusha had healed people in on the Shabbath, begs Yahusha to come to his house and heal his daughter before she dies. During the journey there, a woman presses her way through the crowds to touch Yahusha’s tzittzits in order to be healed. She is healed and it is immediately known by Yahusha. While He is talking to her, people from the ruler’s house tell them that his daughter has died. Yahusha raises her from the dead and tells them not to tell anyone and to give her some food.
Summary:
The fifth chapter of Marqus is a testament to the salvation Yahuah provides through His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. The chapter has three very miraculous healings in it and speaks volumes of Ha’Mashiach’s love and care for all of humanity. The setting is still in the land of the lost sheep of the house of Yashar’el, where Yahusha is still doing what he said He came to do, what was prophesied throughout all of the prophets, to reunite the house of Yashar’el with the house of Yahudah.
The redemptive work Yahusha Ha’Mashiach did on the cross goes hand in had with the healing, casting out of demons and the raising of the dead found in this chapter. Only by the stripes that He took for us are we able to be healed.
