The Gospel According to Marqus 6 (KJV-YS):
Introduction:
The sixth chapter of the Besorah of Marqus begins with Yahusha returning to His hometown of Nazareth where He is met with hatred and ridicule. He then sends out his talmidiym to teach, heal the sick and cast out demons. While they are away, Herod hears of Yahusha’s fame and thinks it is Yahuchanon the baptizer risen from the dead. We are then told the story of how Yahuchanon was executed.
When the twelve talmidiym return to Yahusha, they tell Him of what they have been doing and He instructs them to come with Him and separate themselves into the desert. A large group of people follow them and Yahusha feeds the five thousand men plus the women and children. The multitudes continue to surround Yahusha and His talmidiym so much that He tells them to get in the ship and go to the other side unto Bethsaida while He sends the people away. When He has finally dispersed the people, He goes into a mountain to pray. Evening comes and He sees the talmidiym tolling in the ship because the wind was contrary to them and He walks on the water to them and they are afraid and don’t recognize Him because their heart was hardened. He calms the sea and this makes them even more afraid. The chapter ends with them finally recognizing Yahusha when they get off of the ship.
Marqus 6: 30–44 – Yahusha the Good Shepherd
Insights: The talmidiym return from their teaching and healing journeys throughout the surrounding villages of Galilee and tell Yahusha all that they have taught and done. He then directs them to separate themselves into a desert place but the multitudes see them leave and follow them into the desert place. When Yahusha comes out of the boat and sees that they have followed them and won’t leave them alone, instead of getting mad, He is moved with compassion because He sees them for what they truly are, the lost sheep of the house of Yashar’el and what follows shows how He alone is the Good Shepherd sent by Father Yahuah to guide His people.
Ivriym Scriptures KJV-YS:
“30. And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Yahusha, and told Him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. 31. And He said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately. 33. And the people saw them departing, and many knew Him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto Him. 34. And Yahusha, when He came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and He began to teach them many things. 35. And when the day was now far spent, His talmidiym came unto Him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: 36. Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. 37. He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto Him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? 38. He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 39. And He commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. 41. And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his talmidiym to set before them; and the two fishes divided He among them all. 42. And they did all eat, and were filled. 43. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. 44. And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.”
Cross References:
v30 – 1st Kepha (Peter) 5:2-4 – “Feed the flock of Elohiym which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over Elohiym’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”
The talmidiym were doing what we all have been commanded to do, and that is to feed the flock of Yahuah. We do this by ministering to the flock of Yahuah(serving, teaching, healing, casting out demons).
v34 – Tehilliym (Psalms) 111:4-5 –” He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered: Yahuah is gracious and full of compassion. He hath given meat unto them that fear Him: He will ever be mindful of His covenant.”
Ivriym (Hebrews) 4:15 – “ For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
2nd Divrei Hayamiym (Chronicles) 18:16 – “Then he said, I did see all Yashar’el scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Yahuah said, These have no adonai; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.”
Yahusha could have been aggravated but He was moved with compassion because He is the Good Shepherd, our High Priest that was tempted in His walk, just like us, but He overcame. He then feed the people the Word of Elohiym and taught the people many things.
v36 & 37 – Bemidbar (Numbers) 11:13 – “Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.”
As we know all too well today, food is very expensive and very hard to come by in isolated places. The talmidiym were concerned about the people not having any food as it was getting late but Yahusha then told them to give them something to eat.
v38 – 41 – 1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 14:33 & 40 – “For Elohiym is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all assemblies of the qodeshiym (set-apart ones)….Let all things be done decently and in order.”
Qolasiym (Colossians) 3:17 – “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Adonai Yahusha, giving thanks to Elohiym and the Father by Him.”
1st Qorintiym (Corinthians) 10:31 – “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of Elohiym.”
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:3 – “When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless Yahuah Elohayka for the good land which he hath given thee.”
Yahusha answers the talmidiym and tells them what to do and how to do it. We must remember that Father Yahuah loves for us to obey Him and do it in a manner that is decent and in order. Feeding five thousand hungry people could have turned into a nightmare real quick.
v42– 44- Tehilliym (Psalms) 145:15-16 –“The eyes of all wait upon Thee; and Thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.”
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:10 – “And He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Yahuah doth man live.”
Reflection: Yahusha sends the talmidiym away so that He can get rid of the crowd and have time alone with Father Yahuah in the mountain. Just as our Adonai did, we too must have alone time with Father Yahuah, especially when we are doing what He has called us to do. The talmidiym didn’t ask where He was going or what He was going to do, they just left and soon found out that things were going to be a little harder than they thought. Maybe they were full of pride from their accomplishments or maybe they were jealous of the miracle they had just seen with the loaves and fishes, but they did not recognize Yahusah when He walked on the water towards them because of the hardness of their hearts.

Marqus 6: 45–52 – Yahusha Walks on the Water
Insights: After feeding the five thousand, Yahusha sends His talmidiym to the other side of the Sea of Galilee while He disperses the multitude. After they leave, He goes into a mountain to speak in private with Father Yahuah. In the evening, He sees the ship in the sea and His talmidiym having trouble getting the ship to the shore. He then walks to them and by that night, they see him walking towards them on top of the water and cry out in fear for they think it is a ghost. Yahusha then tells them to be of good cheer and to not be afraid because it is Him and they were amazed.
Ivriym Scriptures KJV-YS:
“45. And straightway He constrained His talmidiym to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while He sent away the people. 46. And when He had sent them away, He departed into a mountain to pray. 47. And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and He alone on the land. 48. And He saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night He cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. 49. But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: 50. For they all saw Him, and were troubled. And immediately He talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. 51. And He went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. 52. For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.“
Cross References:
v46 – Tehilliym (Psalms) 27:8 – “When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face; my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Yahuah, will I seek.”
1st Divrei Hayamiym (Chronicles) 18:16 – “Seek Yahuah and His strength, seek His face continually.”
v48 – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 54:11 – “O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 93:2-4 – “Thy throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Yahuah, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. Yahuah on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.”
v49 – Iyov (Job) 4:14-15 – “Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a ruach (spirit) passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:”
v50 – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 43:1-4 – “But now thus saith Yahuah that created thee, O Ya’aqov and He that formed thee, O Yashar’el, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am Yahuah Elohayka, the Set-Apart One of Yashar’el, thy Saviour: I gave Mitsrayim for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.”
v51 – Tehilliym (Psalms) 107:28-30 – “Then they cry unto Yahuah in their trouble, and He bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so He bringeth them unto their desired haven.”
v52 – Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 63:17 – “O Yahuah, why hast Thou made us to err from Thy ways, and hardened our heart from Thy fear? Return for Thy servants’ sake, the tribes of Thine inheritance.”
Ivriym (Hebrews) 4:15 – “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Mashiach, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;”
Reflection: Yahusha sends the talmidiym to the other side of the Sea of Galilee while He sends the crowd away. After this He goes into a mountain to have personal alone time with Father Yahuah to talk with and get strength from Him. This is what each and every one of us needs to do at some point during every day, have personal alone time with Father Yahuah to pray, seek His will in our lives and to get strength from Him to continue running the good race. The disciples, however, get caught in a wind storm and are having trouble getting the ship to shore and Yahusha sees them and walks on the water to them. They are afraid when they see Him coming and they don’t recognize Him until He tells them to be happy for it is Him. The talmidiym hearts are hardened by their pride, jealousy or something else having to do with the miracle of the loaves and fishes and it is an important lesson for us today of how easily our hearts can be hardened and that we always need to be on guard against it.

Marqus 6: 53–56 – Many Healed by Yahusha’s Tsiytsith (Border of His Garment)
Insights: When they got to land in Gennesaret, a fertile valley area around the Sea of Galilee, the people knew Yahusha and came running to Him. They brought those who couldn’t walk and laid them in the street and begged Him to let them touch Him.
Ivriym Scriptures KJV-YS:
“53. And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. 54. And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew Him, 55. And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard He was. 56. And whithersoever He entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought Him that they might touch if it were but the border of His garment: and as many as touched Him were made whole.“
Cross References:
v54 – Tehilliym (Psalms) 9:10 – “And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, Yahuah, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.”
v56 – Bemidbar (Numbers) 15:38 – “Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, and bid them that they make them tsiytsith (fringes) in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the tsiytsith of the borders a ribband of blue:
Malakiy (Malachi) 4:2 – “But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 22:12 – “Thou shalt make thee tsiytsith (fringes) upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 7:7-8 – “ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
M’asiym (Acts) 3:6-8 – “Then Kepha said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach the Natsariy rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising Elohiym.”
Reflection: The closing verses of the sixth chapter of Marqus shows how Yahusha’s name and the works He had done spread throughout the areas surrounding the Sea of Galilee. Everyone was coming to Him to be healed and others were getting laid in the streets and begging Him to just let them touch His garment. How did all of these people know to touch His tsiytsith? They knew because it was prophesied by the prophet Malakiy that there is healing “in His wings” (SHW 3671) which one definition is border of the garment which is found in the reference above and they had the faith, and of course had heard, that if you just get close enough to touch Him…..

Summary of The Gospel of Marqus Chapter 6: Part 2
The second half of the sixth chapter of Marqus begins with the talmidiym returning from their teaching and healing journeys and they tell Yahusha of all that they have taught and done. Trying to escape the crowds, they retreat into a desert place to rest. The depart, by ship, to a remote place but the people already knew where they were going and basically beat them there. Instead of being angry, Yahusha has compassion and starts to teach them many things. Yahusha shows that He is the Good Shepherd as He sees that the people need a shepherd and He does what He came to do, start the gathering of the lost tribes of Yashar’el which He will complete when He returns again soon.
This area around the Sea of Galilee was/is the home of the lost sheep of the house of Yashar’el (a lot of the pictures on the site are from this area) and was the place where Yahusha spent a great deal of time. The area was/is infected with the curses that fell upon the land because of the children of Yashar’el’s disobedience to the laws and commandments of Father Yahuah.
The chapter closes with the crowds continuing to come to Yahusha for healing and those who can’t walk on their own are laid in the streets where they beg Him to just let them touch the border of His garment, which were His tsiytsith, and they are made whole.
