The Gospel According to Marqus 7 (KJV-YS)

Introduction:

The seventh chapter of the Besorah of Marqus is still in the areas surrounding Galilee, in the lands of the lost sheep of the house of Yashar’el and begins with Yahusha being attacked by the Pharisees and certain of the scribes for His talmidiym not washing their hands hands before eating and therefore defiling themselves according to the traditions of their elders. They then ask Him why His talmidiym don’t walk according to the traditions of the elders and Yahusha tells them they are fulfilling the prophesies of Yesha’yahu by honouring Him their lips but their heart is far from Him and how they worship in vain, teaching the doctrines of men and laying aside the commandments of Elohiym. Yahusha then calls all the people to Him and tells them to listen to what He says and understand that it is not what goes into a person that defiles them but that what comes out of a person’s heart, their fruit, that defiles them and then He lists the things that come out of person that defiles them. The rest of chapter seven details the healing of a woman’s daughter who was from the other nations and the healing of a man that was both deaf and mute.

Marqus 7: 24–30 – Yahusha Cast Out a Devil

Insights: A woman from another nation, a Canaanite woman according to Mattithyahu, has faith and determination enough for Yahusha to heal her daughter of demonic possession in the land of the lost tribes of the nation of Yashar’el.

24. And from thence He arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but He could not be hid. 25. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean ruach (spirit), heard of Him, and came and fell at His feet: 26. The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought Him that He would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27. But Yahusha said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28. And she answered and said unto Him, Yes, Adonai: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. 29. And He said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.”

Marqus 7: 31–37 – Yahusha Heals the Deaf

Insights: Still traveling around in the land of the lost tribes of Yashar’el, Yahusha arrives back in the area around the Sea of Galilee and they bring a man that was deaf with a speech impediment to be healed.

“31. And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, He came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. 32. And they bring unto Him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech Him to put His hand upon him. 33. And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers into his ears, and He spit, and touched his tongue; 34. And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. 35. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. 36. And He charged them that they should tell no man: but the more He charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; 37. And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: He maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.”

Reflection: Continuing His journeys in and around the northern area of Yashar’el, they bring a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment and they beg Mashiach to put His hands on him and heal him. Yahusha takes the man aside, put His fingers in the man’s ears, He spit and touched the man’s tongue, sighed, looked to heaven and said “Ephphatha” which is to say be opened and the man was healed. The man’s friends spoke for him and through their faith, he was healed. The people who witnessed the miracle couldn’t believe it and He charged them to not to publish it but the more He told them not to, the more they published it.

Summary of The Gospel of Marqus Chapter 7

The seventh chapter of Marqus focuses on the contrast between outward religious traditions and inner righteousness, highlighting Yahusha’s teachings on what truly defiles a person. The chapter begins with Yahusha challenging the Pharisees and scribes for prioritizing their traditions over Elohiym’s commandments, particularly regarding handwashing. Mashiach then explains that true defilement comes from within, from the evil thoughts and actions originating in the heart, rather than from external factors like keeping traditions or improper hand washing. The chapter also includes the story of the Syrophoenician woman, demonstrating Yahusha’s compassion and extending His ministry to the nations (Gentiles), and the healing of a deaf and mute man.
