The Whole Armor of Elohiym – How to Protect Yourself from the Enemy
Eph’siym (Ephesians) 6: 10-20
Introduction: Life is a battle. Every day, we face challenges, temptations, and unseen forces that seek to pull us away from the love of our Father Yahuah. Whether we recognize it or not, we are engaged in a spiritual war, and Ha’Satan—the adversary—is relentless in his attacks. But Yahuah has not left us defenseless. In fact, He assures us in His Word:
(2 Divrey Ha’Yamiym [2 Chronicles] 20:15) “Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but Elohiym’s.”
Yahuah has provided us with everything we need to stand firm and emerge victorious, as long as we place our faith and trust in Him and use the armor He gives us.
Sha’ul (Paul), writing to the believers in Eph’siym (Ephesus), paints a powerful picture of the armor of Elohiym—the divine protection and weapon given to every follower of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. This passage in Eph’siym (Ephesians) 6:10-20 is more than just a metaphor—it is a call to action, a reminder that our victory, leading into life eternal, depends on our readiness, faith, and commitment to Yahuah.
Let’s dive deep into each part of this armor and discover how we can use it in our daily walk with Yahuah.
Be Strong in Yahuah (Eph’siym 6:10)
“10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in Yahuah, and in the power of His might.”
We are not called to fight in our own strength. The battle we face is not a physical one—it is spiritual. Too often, we exhaust ourselves trying to solve problems with our own wisdom, our own willpower, and our own strength, only to find that we are overwhelmed. But Sha’ul reminds us: our strength comes from Yahuah, and it is the power of His might that sustains us.
Reflection: Have you ever felt too weak to keep going? Instead of trying harder on your own, turn to Yahuah. He is your source of strength.

Philippiym (Philippians) 4:13 – “I can do all things through Mashiach which strengthens me.”
Summary: Throughout the scriptures, the repeating theme is to have faith my bothers and sisters in the power and might of Yahuah our Elohiym (Elohaynu) and in His risen Mashiach, Yahusha
The Enemy and His Tactics (Eph’siym 6:11-12)
“11.Put on the whole armor of Elohiym, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
It’s easy to believe that our struggles come from people—difficult coworkers, family conflicts, betrayals. But the Word tells us that the real battle is not against flesh and blood. There are unseen forces working to deceive, oppress, and distract us. Ha’Satan is a master of deception, using lies, doubt, and fear to weaken our faith. It is not only the adversary but all of the other beings that chose to rebel with him against Yahuah.
So how do we withstand the attacks from these supernatural beings? By putting on the full armor of Elohiym—not just part of it, but all of it. A soldier who goes into battle half-dressed is vulnerable. Likewise, we must be fully equipped to stand firm.
Reflection: When you face struggles, do you react as if they are purely physical, or do you recognize the spiritual battle behind them?

Daniy’el (Daniel) 10:12 – 13 – “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniy’el: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy Elohiym, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days…”

The Whole Armor of Elohiym: Our Protection and Our Only Weapon (Eph’siym 6:13)

“13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of Elohiym, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
The Whole Armor of Elohiym. In order for us to be able to withstand in the evil day, we must put on the whole armour of our Elohiym, not just bits and pieces. If we do not cover and protect our entire self with all of the armour Sha’ul list, then we will be open and have places that the adversaries can still attack and weaken us.
Reflection: Do you rely on Yahuah’s protection when you are faced with temptations, trials and dangers in your life or do you rely on your own ability to protect yourself and your loved ones?

Shemoth (Exodus) 14:13-14 – “And Mosheh said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the yeshua (salvation) of Yahuah, which He will shew to you today: for the Mitsriym whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. Yahuah shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 20:7-8 – “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of Yahuah Elohaynu. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.”

Ya’aqov (James) 1:12 –“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which Yahuah hath promised to them that love Him.”
1. The Belt of Truth (Eph’siym 6:14a)
“14a. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth.”
Truth is foundational. The belt of a Roman soldier held everything together, just as truth holds our spiritual lives together. Without truth, we are vulnerable to deception. The world is filled with lies—about who Yahuah is, who we are, and what is right and wrong. The only way to guard against these lies is to cling to Yahuah’s truth.
Reflection: Do you stand firm on Yahuah’s truth, or do you allow culture and emotions to shape your beliefs?
Cross-Reference:
Tehilliym (Psalms) 119:160 – “Thy word is true from the beginning.”
Mishlei (Proverbs) 11:4 – “Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.”
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 11:5 – “And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His reins.”
2. The Breastplate of Righteousness (Eph’siym 6:14b)
“14b. Having on the breastplate of righteousness.”
The breastplate protects the heart. A soldier without it is an easy target. Righteousness is not something we earn; it is something we receive from Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. When we live in obedience, we guard our hearts from sin and spiritual attack.
Reflection: Are you living a life that reflects Yahuah’s righteousness, or have you allowed sin to take root?
Cross-Reference:
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 59:17 – “For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.”
3. The Shoes of the Besorah (Gospel) of Peace (Eph’siym 6:15)
“15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the Besorah of peace.”
Our feet carry us where we go. As believers, we are to walk in peace and be ready to share the Besorah (Good News). No matter what comes our way, we stand firm in the shalom of Yahuah.
Reflection: Do you bring peace wherever you go, or do you allow chaos and worry to control you?
Cross-Reference:
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 52:7 – “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings.”
4. The Shield of Faith (Eph’siym 6:16)
“16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Ha’Satan constantly throws fiery darts—temptations, doubts, accusations. Faith is what shields us. When we trust in Yahuah, we extinguish every attack.
Reflection: When trials come, do you panic, or do you hold up the shield of faith?
Cross-Reference:
Bereshiyth (Genesis) 15:1 – “Fear not, Avram: I am thy shield.”
5. The Helmet of Salvation (Eph’siym 6:17a)
“17a. And take the helmet of salvation.”
The mind is a battlefield. Doubt, fear, and confusion are Ha’Satan’s favorite weapons. The helmet of salvation protects our thoughts by reminding us of who we are in Yahusha.
Reflection: Do you meditate on Yahuah’s promises, or do you allow negative thoughts to control you?
Cross-Reference:
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 59:17 – “For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.”
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.”
1 Thessaloniqiym (1 Thessalonians) 5:8 – “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”
6. The Sword of the Ruach – The Word of Elohiym (Eph’siym 6:17b)
“17b. The sword of the Ruach, which is the word of Elohiym.”
Unlike the other pieces, this is our offensive weapon. Yahusha defeated Ha’Satan using Scripture—so must we!
Reflection: Do you know how to use Scripture in spiritual battles?
Cross-Reference:
Ivrim (Hebrews) 4:12 – “The word of Elohiym is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”
Final Thoughts
Every day, we must put on the whole armor of Elohiym and stand firm in Him through His Word. The battle is real, but with Yahuah’s strength, victory is assured. Will you choose to wear your armor today?
