The Gospel According to Marqus 3 (KJV-YS):
Introduction:
The third chapter of the Besorah of Marqus continues the Shabbath day journey of Yahusha in the northern region of Yashar’el, the areas around the Sea of Galilee. Yahusha continues to reveal the Truth about how to walk in the Torah of Yahuah perfectly which causes more hatred, of Him and His teachings, from the Pharisees and the Scribes. This hatred and persecution of Yahusha does not stop Him from healing the sick and casting out evil spirits from among the people, nor does it stop the twelve from accepting their call to discipleship.
Marqus 3: 1–6 – Healing on the Shabbath
Verses 1-6:
“1.And He entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand. 2. And they watched Him, whether He would heal him on the Shabbath day; that they might accuse Him. 3. And He saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth. 4. And He saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the Shabbaths, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. 5. And when He had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 6. And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.”
Insights: At the end of chapter 2, Yahusha had just proclaimed Himself as Master of the Sabbath and that the Sabbath was made for man. He then He enters the synagogue to find a man with a withered hand to start chapter 3. The Pharisees were still with Yahusha, to see what He was going to do next so that they might have more to accuse Him with. Yahusha then asks them simple, straightforward questions to see where their hearts were.
Cross References Verses 1-6:
1 Melekiym (1 Kings) 13:6 – “And the king answered and said unto the man of Elohiym, Intreat now the face of Yahuah Elohayka, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of Elohiym besought Yahuah, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 37:32- “The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 109:3-4 – “They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.”
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 58:13 – “If thou turn away thy foot from the Shabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My set-apart day; and call the Shabbath a delight, the set-apart of Yahuah, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:”
Reflection: Yahusha enters into the synagogue on the Sabbath and heals a man with a withered hand. The Pharisees watch Him and their hearts grow hard towards Yahusha just because He is going to heal the man. He then asks them “Is it lawful to do good on the Shabbaths, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill?” and they took counsel with the Herodians how they might stop Him.

Marqus 3: 7–12 – Yahusha and the Multitudes in Galilee
Verses 7-12: “7. But Yahusha withdrew Himself with His disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, 8. And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things He did, את came unto Him. 9. And He spake to His disciples, that a small ship should wait on Him because of the multitude, lest they should throng Him. 10. For He had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon Him for to touch Him, as many as had plagues. 11. And unclean spirits, when they saw Him, fell down before Him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of Elohiym. 12. And He straitly charged them that they should not make Him known.”
Insights: As Yahusha’s fame spread, great multitudes of people were always trying to get to Him because of His healing abilities. Imagine a doctor that all you had to do was be in their presence and you could be healed of any disease or demonic persecution be removed from you or your family! What would you do or give/pay to see this person?
The majority of Yahusha’s healing takes place in and around the Sea of Galilee, particularly in towns like Capernaum, Bethsaida, Gennesaret, and along the Sea of Galilee. This is no coincidence as the land in this area once belonged to the lost tribes of the house of Yashar’el and these are the only people Yahusha came to save (Mattithyahu 15:24).

Cross References:
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 17:7 – “And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.”
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 33:6 – “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 106:37–38 – “Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.”
Reflection: The sin of the lost tribes, worshiping and following other elohiym, had infested the land with uncleaness which resulted in physical sickness, spiritual sickness and demonic infestation. Yahusha came to bring the adulteress northern tribes (The House of Yashar’el) back into covenant with Father Yahuah.
When the multitudes press upon Him, Yahusha withdraws to a small ship to keep from being crushed by the crowd trying to touch Him to be healed. Yahusha still heals many and cast out demons that cried out unto Him because they know who He is and He charges them to not reveal Him.

Marqus 3: 13–19 – Ordaining the Twelve
“13. And He goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto Him whom He would: and they came unto Him. 14. And He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, 15. And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: 16. And Shim’on (Simon) He surnamed Kepha (Peter); 17. And Ya’aqov (James) the son of Zebedee, and Yochanon (John) the brother of James; and He surnamed them Beney Ragosh (Boanerges), which is, The sons of thunder: 18. And Andrai (Andrew), and Philip, and Bar Talmai (Bartholomew), and Mattithyahu (Matthew), and Ta’om (Thomas), and Ya’aqov (James) the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddai (Thaddaeus), and Shim’on (Simon) the Canaanite, 19. And Yahudah Ishqiryot (Judas Iscariot) , which also betrayed Him: and they went into an house.”
Insights: Yahusha calls the twelve disciples unto Him that He might send them forth to preach. Yahusha Ha’Mashiach is the Word of Yahuah and He came and called these twelve. Throughout the Scriptures, the Word of Yahuah has called men and women to follow and serve Father Yahuah just as He is calling people to do the same today.
Cross References:
Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 15:1 – “After these things the Word of Yahuah came unto Avram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Avram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
1 Shemu’el (Samuel) 3:1&10 – “And the child Shemu’el ministered unto Yahuah before Eli. And the Word of Yahuah was precious in those days; there was no open vision…And Yahuah came, and stood, and called as at other times, Shemu’el , Shemu’el. Then Shemu’el answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 1:4-5 – “Then the Word of Yahuah came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained.”
Reflection: Yahusha calls the twelve to follow Him and to preach the Word of Yahuah. The twelve apostles are symbolic of the twelve tribes of Yashar’el and most of them came from the regions of the lost tribes of the house of Yashar’el.
The Word of Elohiym is still calling people to follow and serve Father Yahuah today.

Marqus 3: 20-30 – Yahusha Accused of being Possessed by Ba’al Zebub
“20. And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. 21. And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. 22. And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Ba’al Zebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth He out devils. 23. And He called them unto Him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24. And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27. No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. 28. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29. But he that shall blaspheme against the Ruach Ha’Qodesh (Set-Apart Spirit) hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. 30. Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.”
Insights: The multitudes were once again pressing upon Yahusha so much that those with Him couldn’t even eat bread. He is then accused by the scribes as being possessed by Ba’al Zebub, or Ha’Satan, and Yahusha tells them very simply that is ridiculous, He cannot be of Satan because He is casting Satan out. He then gives them the parable of the strong man and his house and then warns them that to blaspheme against the Ruach Ha’Qodesh never has forgiveness.

Cross References:
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 49:24-25 – “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith Yahuah, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.”
Luqas (Luke) 4:18-19 – “The Ruach Adonai Yahuah is upon me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Besorah (Gospel) to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of Yahuah.”
Ivriym (Hebrew) 4:12 –“For the Word of Elohiym is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Reflection: Yahusha cast out demons and evil spirits in a land that was infested with idol worship and a place that the adversary had a strong hold. The religious leaders didn’t like what He was doing because it made them feel inadequate so they trumped up false accusations against Him because they were not of Father Yahuah but of their father, Satan. His parable explained this but only the few understood His message of the strong man and his house.

Marqus 3:31-35 – Yahusha’s True Family
“31. There came then His brethren and His mother, and, standing without, sent unto Him, calling Him. 32. And the multitude sat about Him, and they said unto Him, Behold, Thy mother and Thy brethren without seek for Thee. 33. And He answered them, saying, Who is My mother, or My brethren? 34. And He looked round about on them which sat about Him, and said, Behold My mother and My brethren! 35. For whosoever shall do the will of Elohiym, the same is My brother, and My sister, and mother.”
Insights: As Yahusha is healing, casting out demons and being falsely accused of being possessed by Ba’al Zebub by the religious leaders, His mother and brothers come to ask Him about something that evidently wasn’t about Father Yahuah’s business. They are standing outside and word is relayed to Yahusha that they are outside seeking for Him. He then asks a simple spiritual question: Who is My mother or My brothers?
Cross References:
Shemoth (Exodus) 4:22-23 – “And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Yahuah, Yashar’el is My son, even My firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let My son go, that he may serve Me:”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 19:29 – “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”
Romayim (Romans) 8:16-17 – “The Ruach Itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of Elohiym: And if children, then heirs; heirs of Elohiym, and joint-heirs with Mashiach; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.”
Galatiym (Galatians) 3:7-8 – “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Avraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that Elohiym would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the Besorah unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.”
Refleciton: Yahusha asked the question who is His mother or brother and He then answers that those who do the will of Elohiym are His brother, sister and mother. Throughout the Scriptures, we are reminded and told that the to love Father Yahuah is to guard and do His commandments. This is what makes us brothers and sister of Yahusha, to do the will of Father Yahuah, just as Yahusha Ha’Mashiach did.

Summary:
In the third chapter of Marqus Yahusha continues to heal and teach the multitudes that come to Him. His ministry is still centered in the regions of the lost tribes of Yashar’el and this is the place that the majority of His disciples that He chooses to follow Him are from. The chapter closes with Yahusha making a bold statement for the time period and that was His family didn’t consist of His flesh and blood relatives, but His family consists of those that do the will of Elohiym, the same is His brother sister and mother.
