Giving Yahuah Thanks for Food
and Asking Him to Bless It
Hello to my family in the faith of Father Yahuah through His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. I pray that your week has been blessed and that you are ready for Yahuah’s Feast Day of the Shabbath tomorrow!
Thank you for joining as we continue our series on prayer life and how to pray to Father Yahuah. Last week we started off with A Prayer to Start Your Day and today we are going to look at praying for food, giving thanks before eating food, giving thanks before eating a meal, asking Yahuah to bless the food we are eating, and giving thanks to and blessing Yahuah for the meal after we are finished eating.
Praying for Food and Nourishment
Praying for food and nourishment may seem like something that many so called believers think that followers of Mashiach Yahusha shouldn’t have to do right? They say there are several scriptures that support this and anyone who is hungry or is lacking nourishment are not living righteously nor doing the will of Yahuah:
Tehilliym (Psalms) 37:25 – “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
Mishlei (Proverbs) 10:3 – “Yahuah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but He casteth away the substance of the wicked.”
The above verses seem to support this theory but if we look, we have one critical eyewitness account that proves this is not case all of the time:
Luqas (Luke) 16:20-23 – “And there was a certain beggar named El’azar, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Avraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Avraham afar off, and El’azar in his bosom.”
We see from this eyewitness account given by Yahusha Ha’Mashiach that the righteous do go hungry and I think we all knew that physical bread was not what the psalmist was talking about, they were talking about the bread of Ruach Elohiym:
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:3 – “And He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Yahuah doth man live.”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 4:2-4 – ” And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of Elohiym, command that these stones be made bread. But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Elohiym.“
We can see from the reference verses above that those who follow Yahuah will get hungry, need to pray for physical nourishment as well as nourishment for the ruach and soul, and the psalmist reinforces this critical information:
Tehilliym (Psalms) 42:1-3 – “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O Elohiym. My soul thirsteth for Elohiym, for the living Elohiym: when shall I come and appear before Elohiym? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy Elohiym?”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 63:1-3 – “O Elohiym, thou art my Elohiym; early will I seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see Thy power and Thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary. Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee.”
Mashiach Yahusha gives us one more piece of critical information that goes against everything that the flesh desires and tells us the nourishment we are to truly seek and that we should always be hungry and thirsty for:
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 5:6 – ” Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Now that we have some scriptural understanding of the different types of hunger and nourishment, let’s pray a prayer that will address both and get our petition in front of Father Yahuah:
A Prayer for Nourishment
The following is an outline of how to pray for food and nourishment. I have never had to pray for something physical to eat, been real close, but I do know that it is a growing problem for a lot of people in my area, and unfortunately I think that due to the times we live in, the number of people going without proper physical nourishment is going to increase.
Dear Heavenly Father Yahuah, my Master, my King, my Everything, my Elohiym.
The Elohiym of Avraham, the Elohiym of Yitschaq, the Elohiym of Ya’aqov, the Elohiym of the children of Yashar’el.
I humbly come before Your throne of exceeding grace and sweet tender mercies,
Only through the mighty name and precious shed blood of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
I come Heavenly Father Yahuah first of all to say thank You for allowing me this great honour and privilege to come before You once again.
I come Father Yahuah to ask that You please provide for the needs of myself and my family.
That You bless us with food and nourishment for our minds, our bodies and our souls so that we may grow stronger in Your Word and do Your will here on earth.
Father Yahuah, I know that You and You alone have the ability to provide a way when there is no way and I am calling on You right now to make a way and provide for us through the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
Father Yahuah, I know that if You do not provide the physical needs I am praying for that it is not because You are not able to, but because it isn’t Your will at this time and I accept that Father Yahuah because You are my Rock and Your will is perfect and I accept Your will in my life.
Father Yahuah I pray that You give myself and my family an unquenchable hunger and thirst for Your Set-Apart and Righteous Word.
That You never let us get full, that we always seek Your bread from heaven and thirst for Your water from Your well.
Father Yahuah, I pray and I thank You that You will continue to provide everything that we need, physically and in ruach, according to Your perfect will.
I have faith that no matter what we may have to go through here, that as long as we are obedient to You, Your Torah, walk in Your Way and guard covenant with You through Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, You will provide everything for us just as You did for El’azar and all others who have faith in You Father Yahuah.
In the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach I pray this prayer,
I thank You for the innumerable blessings You bestow upon us,
I bless, praise, worship, exalt, magnify and extol Your beautiful set-apart and righteous name Father Yahuah,
and in the might name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach I love You Father Yahuah with all of my heart,
I love You Father Yahuah with all of my soul and I love You Father Yahuah with all of my strength I love You Father Yahuah, I love You Father Yahuah.
Amein, Amein.
The time is coming soon that we will not be able to buy or sell unless we have the mark of the new economic system they are forcing the whole world to come under subjection to. You may not have to pray for physical bread right now, or maybe you do, but it is a real possibility that you may have to one day soon…
A Prayer Giving Thanks for Food
I try to give thanks to Father Yahuah each time I eat something just because I am thankful for Yahuah’s provisions no matter how small:
Heavenly Father Yahuah, in the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, I thank You for this food that You have provided for me and I ask that You please bless the food.
Amein.
A Prayer Giving Thanks for a Meal
Mashiach Yahusha gives us examples throughout the besorah to give thanks for our meals:
Yochanon (John) 6:11 – ” And Yahusha took the loaves; and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the talmidiym, and the talmidiym to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.”
It is important that when we eat a meal by ourselves or gather together with family and friends to break bread, that we give thanks to Father Yahuah, just as Mashiach did, for the meal that we are about to eat and ask Him to bless the food:
Dear Heavenly Father Yahuah, We humbly come before Your throne of grace and mercy to thank You for the food that we are about to receive.
We ask that You please bless the food that it may be nourishment, strengthening and healing for our minds, our bodies, our hearts and especially for our souls dear Heavenly Father Yahuah.
That we may continue to grow stronger in Your Word and do Your will on earth.
In the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach we thank You for the food, we bless and praise Your beautiful set-apart and righteous name and we love You Father Yahuah.
Amein, Amein.
Blessing Yahuah’s Name for the Food
Mosheh commands the children of Yashar’el in the Torah to not forget to bless Yahuah Elohaynu after they have eaten and are full:
Devariym (Deuteronomy) 8:10-11 – “When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless Yahuah Elohayka for the good land which He hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not Yahuah Elohayka, in not keeping His commandments, and His judgments, and His statutes, which I command thee this day:”
Father Yahuah, in the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach we bless and praise Your beautiful set-apart and righteous name for the good land, the bountiful harvest and everything else You have provided for the meal that we just ate and for the meals that our family and friends have eaten today.
In the mighty name of Your Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach we thank You for the food, we bless and praise Your name and we love You Father Yahuah.
Amein, Amein.
Conclusion:
I pray that these blogs on prayer life are helping guide you through your sojourn here. Some asked why am I doing this? Isn’t this a form of rehearsed prayer?
I am doing this because people are genuinely seeking how to pray to Father Yahuah and Ruach Elohiym has led me to do it.
This isn’t a prayer for you to memorize and repeat without feeling. It is meant as a guide to show you how I and others I have heard pray to Father Yahuah in earnest and with results.
I was blessed to grow up in a praying family and group of believers and have been led to share what Father Yahuah has revealed to me.
I pray that these prayers on how to pray for food, give thanks to Yahuah for the food and how to bless His name after we are full will give you a more personal and intimate relationship with Father Yahuah through and with His Son Mashiach Yahusha.
Next week we will study praying for healing from Father Yahuah through His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
Have a blessed rest of your day and enjoy the day that was created just for you to fellowship with the King of kings, Yahuah Elohai Tseva’oth, His Shabbath of rest.
Shalom,
Minister Morrow
