1st-Day Eythaniym (Month 7) 19th
Sunday October 12th, 2025
The First Sukkah Made with Hands
Yahuah continued to dwell in the first sukkah He commanded Mosheh to build as He lead the children of Yashar’el into the promised land where the tabernacle of assembly was set up at various locations throughout Yashar’el:
Yahusha (Joshua) 18:1 – “ And the whole assembly of the children of Yashar’el assembled together at Shiyloh, and set up the tabernacle of the assembly there. And the land was subdued before them.”
Da’vid unifies Yashar’el and he desires to build a permanent sukkah (first temple), for Yahuah to dwell in:
2nd Shemu’el (Samuel) 7:5-7 – “Go and tell My servant Da’vid, Thus saith Yahuah, Shalt thou build Me an house for Me to dwell in? Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Yashar’el out of Mitsrayim, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle. In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Yashar’el spake I a word with any of the tribes of Yashar’el, whom I commanded to feed My people Yashar’el, saying, Why build ye not Me an house of cedar?”
Yahuah tells Da’vid his son Shalomah will build the permanent sukkah for Him to dwell in if he walks in the way and guards His Torah:
1st Divrei Hayamiym (Chronicles) 28:6-7 – “And He said unto me, Shalomah thy son, he shall build My house and My courts: for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his father. Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do My commandments and My judgments, as at this day.”
The Second Sukkah Made with Hands
Shalomah builds the second sukkah (first temple), dedicates it and Yahuah enters it to dwell and walk among His nation, the children of Yashar’el:
2nd Divrei Hayamiym (Chronicles) 7:1-3 – “Now when Shalomah had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the ascending smoke offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Yahuah filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of Yahuah, because the glory of Yahuah had filled Yahuah‘s house. And when all the children of Yashar’el saw how the fire came down, and the glory of Yahuah upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised Yahuah, saying, For He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.”
Yahuah promises to destroy the sukkah Shalomah built if he breaks covenant with Him and forsakes His commandments:
2nd Divrei Hayamiym (Chronicles) 7:19-22 – “But if ye turn away, and forsake My statutes and My commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other elohiym, and worship them; Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of My land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for My name, will I cast out of My sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath Yahuah done thus unto this land, and unto this house? And it shall be answered, Because they forsook Yahuah Elohai of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Mitsrayim, and laid hold on other elohiym, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath He brought all this evil upon them.”
Shalomah breaks covenant with Yahuah, defiles his own sukkah, builds sukkahs for other elohiym and sets in motion the utter defilement and destruction of the sukkah he built for Yahuah:
1st Melekiym (Kings) 11:1-8 – “But king Shalomah loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; Of the nations concerning which Yahuah said unto the children of Yashar’el, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their elohiym: Shalomah clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Shalomah was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other elohiym: and his heart was not perfect with Yahuah Elohaynu, as was the heart of Da’vid his father. For Shalomah went after Ashtoreth the elohai of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. And Shalomah did evil in the sight of Yahuah, and went not fully after Yahuah, as did Da’vid his father. Then did Shalomah build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Yerushalayim, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their elohiym.”
After the death of Shalomah, Yahuah split the kingdom and the northern ten tribes of the house of Yashar’el built sukkahs for other elohiym made with hands, holding a counterfeit feast of sukkoth in the eighth month to the golden calves they made, utterly defiling their own sukkahs:
1st Melekiym (Kings) 12:26-33 – “And Yarov’am said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of Da’vid: If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of Yahuah at Yerushalayim, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their adoniy, even unto Rechav’am king of Yahudah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rechav’am king of Yahudah. Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Yerushalayim: behold thy elohiym, O Yashar’el, which brought thee up out of the land of Mitsrayim. And he set the one in Beyt’el, and the other put he in Dan. And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan. And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Leviy. And Yarov’am ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Yahudah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beyt’el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beyt’el the priests of the high places which he had made. So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beyt’el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Yashar’el: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.”
The Second Sukkah Made with Hands is Destroyed
The second sukkah (first temple) of Yahuah and the city of Yerushalayim are destroyed because of their defilement by the houses of Yashar’el and Yahudah:
2nd Melekiym (Kings) 25:8-10 – “And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Yerushalayim: And he burnt the house of Yahuah, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Yerushalayim, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire. And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Yerushalayim round about.”
The Third Sukkah Made with Hands
Yahuah commands that a third sukkah be made with hands for Him to dwell in to be among His people:
Chaggai (Haggai) 1:7-8 – “Thus saith Yahuah Tseva’oth; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Yahuah.“
The third sukkah (second temple), is constructed, dedicated, the Feasts of Yahuah resume and the people worship and fellowship with Yahuah and He dwells among them:
Ezra v’Nechemyahu (Ezra) 6:14-22 – “And the elders of the Yahudiym builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Chaggai the prophet and Zakaryahu the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the Elohiym of Yashar’el, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia. And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king. And the children of Yashar’el, the priests, and the Leviyiym, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of Elohiym with joy, And offered at the dedication of this house of Elohiym an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Yashar’el twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Yashar’el. And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Leviyiym in their courses, for the service of Elohiym, which is at Yerushalayim; as it is written in the book of Mosheh. And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month. For the priests and the Leviyiym were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. And the children of Yashar’el, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek Yahuah Elohai of Yashar’el, did eat, And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for Yahuah had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of Elohiym, the Elohai of Yashar’el.”
Summary of The Sukkahs Made with Human Hands
Because of the children of Yashar’el’s disobedience in the wilderness and when they inherited the promise land, Yahuah could not dwell directly among them so He had them construct a series of three different sukkahs so that He could dwell and be among His chosen people. Only because of Who He is, Yahuah extended and upheld the covenant with Yashar’el that He had cut with Avraham, Yitschaq and Ya’aqov to be their Elohiym, thus providing a place for Him to dwell with Yashar’el and be their Elohiym when they were obedient to Him.
Tomorrow we will look at the second temple (third sukkah made with hands) and the promise/fulfillment of the perfect sukkah, Mashiach Yahusha.
We are past halfway through the eight days of Sukkoth and I pray that you are having a blessed and joyous feast, enjoying tabernacling with Yahuah.
Have a blessed start to your week and continue to blow the shofar for these last four days of the Feast of Sukkoth!!
Shalom,
Minister Morrow
