What is the First Commandment and Why is It so Important?

Welcome to the second blog in the series “Transgressions of the First Commandment”. I am glad you are continuing to read and I pray that Father Yahuah gives us all a better understanding of this first commandment given by Elohiym, to mankind that is listed in the Torah, after He blessed them, was for them to “be fruitful”. There are other commandments listed after this first one and they do go hand in hand with it, but we are going to focus on the very first one and the others will fall into place.

Now that we have the definition out of the way, let’s get into the understanding of what Elohiym was commanding Adam and Chuah. He wanted them to be fruitful, to produce fruit of the womb and also to produce fruit from the works they would be commanded to do. Well what do you know! This is exactly what Elohiym told them to do after He commanded them to “be fruitful”, He told them “and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:” Now how we replenish the earth and subdue it depends on what type of fruit we bring forth through our works of obedience or works of disobedience.
We know that this first commandment given wasn’t given for us to bear fruit of plants, but it was given for us to produce fruit of the womb and to produce fruit from the works we do. So how do we produce fruit of the womb and fruit of works that are pleasing to Father Yahuah? The first part of the answer can be found in the next chapter of Bere’shiyth:
Bere’shiyth 2:24 –“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his woman (wife): and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his woman, and were not ashamed.”

We now see the beginning of the family as it was designed from the beginning by Father Yahuah, and that is for one man to leave the family that he was created from and to cleave unto the woman he has chosen to be his wife, then these two individual flesh shall become one combined flesh. This is the way it was intended to be from the creation, but we all know what happened, they ate of the fruit they were commanded not to, then sin and death entered the world of mankind. How beautiful would the world be if we hadn’t eaten of that one fruit we were commanded not to? All we would have had to do is fellowship with Elohiym, eat of all the other trees that brought forth fruit, even the fruit from the tree of life, find a help meet, and be fruitful ourselves. But in this one action, the first couple had produced bad fruit by their work of disobeying Elohiym and subsequently they produced bad fruit from the womb in Qayin (Cain) which slew the good fruit from the womb, H’avel (Abel).

From this first transgression of the first commandment, we can see why this first commandment is so important and is at the very foundation of our relationship with Father Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. From the fruit of our works, to the fruit of the womb, being fruitful is a commandment that ties directly to the two great commandments Yahusha gave:
Mattithyahu 22:36-38 –“Yahusha said unto him, Thou shalt love the Yahuah Elohai with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
As we continue, the ties between these three commandments will become more evident.

I hope this introduction to the series “ Transgressions of the First Commandment” has given you a better understanding as to what the first commandment is and why it is so important. We will continue to look at how the adversary attacks this foundational commandment in today’s society and why it is so important for us to not give up the fight for ourselves and our loved ones to guard this commandment diligently so that we can produce good fruit for Father Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach who is the one that we will be fruitful with in His Kingdom which is coming soon for all of us! So stay tuned as we get a better understanding of being fruitful as the bride of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, which I pray that we are all aspiring to be.
