The Eight Days of Sukkoth
Shabbath Shalom!
I pray that this Eighth Day of the Feast of Sukkoth finds you tabernacling with Father Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, blowing the shofar and that the feast days have been recharging, uplifting and encouraged you to look deeper into the true meaning of this last feast of Yahuah’s for the year.
Some ask why I did the title “The Eight Days of Sukkoth” instead of seven as it calls out in:
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:40 – “Ye shall dwell in sukkah seven days; all that are Yashar’el born shall dwell in sukkah: That your generations may know that I made the children of Yashar’el to dwell in sukkah, when I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim: I am Yahuah Elohaykem.”
Because the prior verse says that the feast is seven days but there is to be a Shabbath on the first and eighth days:
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:39 – “Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto Yahuah seven days: on the first day shall be a Shabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Shabbath.”
And it calls out the eighth day in:
Bemidbar (Numbers) 29:35 – “On the eighth day ye shall have a solemn assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein:”
So the feast is a seven day feast but it has a Shabbath on the eighth day which is still part of the Feast but it is set-apart from the prior seven days…
The Feast of Sukkoth has is actually three different feast:
1. The Feast of Aciyf or the Feast of Ingathering – Shemoth (Exodus) 23:16b
2. The Feast of Sukkoth or the Feast of Tabernacles – Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:34
3. The Eighth Day Shabbath – Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:39c
Theses three feast collectively form what we call the Feast of Sukkoth which comes to a grand total of eight days and thus the title “The Eight Days of Sukkoth”.
I have been doing research into the forms of dwelling spaces listed for Ruach Yahuah Elohiym to dwell in and this was the perfect time to complete the research and do a study and what I found was that there are three dwelling places for Him and us: the tent, the tabernacle and the house/temple. Because all these structures here are temporary in nature, I just call them sukkahs. Only the first and last sukkahs were made to be eternal, the ones in between are all temporary meant to prepare us, or if you will, see which ruach we let inhabit this sukkah.
The End of the Sukkah as We Know It
The sukkah that we inhabit now is only temporary and if we are obedient to Elohiym and believe in His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, we will have an eternal house, not made with hands just as Mashiach has right now:
Marqus (Mark) 15:28-30 –“And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And He was numbered with the transgressors. And they that passed by railed on Him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Save Thyself, and come down from the cross.”
2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 5:1 –“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of Elohiym, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
2nd Kepha (Peter) 1:13-14 –“Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Adonai Yahusha Ha’Mashiach hath shewed me.”
This is not just a Brit Ha’dasha (New Testament) concept as it is repeatedly found in the Tanakh (Old Testament):
Shemoth (Exodus) 15:1-3 –“Then sang Mosheh and the children of Yashar’el this song unto Yahuah, and spake, saying, I will sing unto Yahuah, for He hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea. Yahuah is my strength and song, and He is become my yeshu’ah (salvation): He is my Elohiym, and I will prepare Him an habitation; my father’s Elohiym, and I will exalt Him. Yahuah is a Man of war: Yahuah is His name.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 118:14-16 – “Yahuah is my strength and song, and is become my yeshu’ah (salvation). The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of Yahuah doeth valiantly. The right hand of Yahuah is exalted: the right hand of Yahuah doeth valiantly.”
Tehilliym (Psalms) 119:54-55 – “Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. I have remembered Thy name, O Yahuah, in the night, and have guarded Thy Torah.”
These verses show an understanding that the sukkah of flesh was only temporary for our sojourn here and that one day we must put off this sukkah and put a permanent sukkah on and it is up to each one of us which sukkah we will put on by which ruach we let dwell in this sukkah…
The Eternal Sukkah
The sukkah we currently reside will come to an end soon:
Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) 12:7 – “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the ruach shall return unto Elohiym Who gave it.”
When our soul is separated from the dust and the ruach returns to Elohiym, our soul will rest in either of two places until Mashiach Yahusha returns:
Luqas (Luke) 16:22-23 – “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Avraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Avraham afar off, and El’azar in his bosom.”
Once we die, the temporary sukkah is done and we will either have one of two outcomes:
Yochanon (John) 7:40 – “ And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
1st Yochanon (John) 1:18 – “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of Elohiym: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of Elohiym, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.”
Daniy’el (Daniel) 12:2 – “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.“
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 25:46 – “ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Marqus (Mark) 9:47-48 – “ And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of Elohiym with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
We can see from these verses that when we die, we will have either have an eternal sukkah as Mashiach Yahusha has or we will have a sukkah that brings only hurt and pain to our soul for eternity.
The Beginning of the Eighth Day Everyone’s Eternal Sukkah
After the one thousand year reign of Mashiach Yahusha when the first week, seven days, of Yahuah is completed as it was suppose to be from the creation and when the beginning of the Eighth Day starts:
Chazon (Revelation) 20:4 – “ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Yahusha, and for the Word of Elohiym, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Mashiach a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and set-apart is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Elohiym and of Mashiach, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”
Those who did not tabernacle with Father Yahuah Elohiym and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach will have a different outcome:
Chazon (Revelation) 20:10-14 – “ And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before Elohiym; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Father Yahuah nor His Son Mashiach Yahusha want the second fate for any of us:
Bemidbar (Numbers) 14:18 – “Yahuah is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.”
2nd Kepha (Peter) 1:13-14 – “Yahuah is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.“
The Eighth Day and Eternal Sukkah of Father Yahuah Elohiym
After the judgment and the assignment of our eternal sukkah, the Eternal Sukkah of Father Yahuah will dwell among mankind and we will dwell in Elohiym:
Chazon (Revelation) 21:1-8 – “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I Yochanon saw the set-apart city, new Yerushalayim, coming down from Elohiym out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the Tabernacle of Elohiym is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and Elohiym Himself shall be with them, and be their Elohiym. And Elohiym shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And He said unto me, It is done. I am Aleph and Tav, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his Elohiym, and He shall be My son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers , and sorcerers , and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.“
Chazon (Revelation) 21:22-27 – “And I saw no temple therein: for Yahuah Elohiym Tseva’oth and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of Elohiym did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for wthere shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.“
Summary of The Eighth Day and The Eternal Sukkah
The eighth day is a very important day throughout scripture as it symbolizes the completion of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. The eighth day during the Feast of Sukkoth is very symbolic as it represents the end of our sojourning in this foreign land and only tabernacling with Father Yahuah and Mashiach Yahusha when Their Ruach dwell in us for brief periods of time to being eternally able to dwell in them and for them to dwell in us.
I pray that Ruach Yahuah Elohiym has helped and encouraged you through the Eight Days of the Feast of Sukkoth and that He has revealed more to you about what the feast actually is and what it is really for. All of the Feast of Yahuah here are just dress rehearsals for the Eternal Feast of Yahuah.
Thank you for going on this beautiful journey with me if you’ve made it this far! It always encourages me to hear what your thoughts are on the feast days as we celebrate them, so thank you in advance for sharing.
As I get back into other blogs since the feast days are over for a while, I will be starting two new requested series from you all out there:
1. How to pray to Father Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach when using Their Set-Apart names;
2. Baptism: What is it and how is it supposed to be done.
+. Let me know if you have a topic of study.
Have a blessed Eighth Day of Sukkoth and continue to have your sukkah ready to tabernacle with Father Yahuah and His Son Mashiach Yahusha each and every day!
Shalom,
Minister Morrow
Philippiym (Philippians) 3:12-14 – ” Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Mashiach Yahusha. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of Elohiym in Mashiach Yahusha.”
