Yahuah’s Feast of Trumpets
Understanding Yom Teru’ah: Yahuah’s Feast of Trumpets
Introduction:
Yom Teru’ah, commonly known in English as the Feast of Trumpets, is a very significant appointed time in the Scriptures. It is not to be confused with Rosh Hashana, the pagan Babylonian start of the new year for the country of Israel. It is the start of the Fall Fest of Yahuah and begins on the first day of the seventh month, not the first of the seventh month, and was recorded as being first instituted in Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:23-25 and more details are given about the ascending smoke offering for a sweet savour, the oblation, the sin offering along with the daily sacrifices in Bemidbar (Numbers) 29:1-6.
The Origins and Significance of the Blowing of the Shofar (Trumpet)
The first instance of a shofar being blown in the scriptures is found in Shemoth (Exodus) 19:13 during the Feast of Shavu’oth. The voice of the shofar was so loud that all of Yashar’el trembled and the blowing of it was to introduce Yashar’el directly to Father Yahuah.
Throughout the scriptures the shofar has been used to announce Yahuah or to call His people to action. The shofar is an important military weapon as it organized the forces into coordinated battle formations and will be used once again to announce Yahuah to the world.
The Connection Between Yom Teru’ah and Yahusha Ha’Mashiach
Yom Teruah finds its ultimate fulfillment in Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. It is widely believed by that Yahusha Ha’Mashiach was born during Yom Teruah and it is also believed that He will return again the second time to complete the Feast of Yahuah.
Guarding Yom Teru’ah
1. Mosheh is Commanded by Yahuah to Institute Yom Teruah for Yashar’el
Yahuah gives Mosheh specific instructions for when and how His Feast of Yom Teruah is to be kept.
- Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23-25 – “And Yahuah spake unto Mosheh, saying, Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Shabbath, a memorial of blowing of shofars, a set-apart convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Yahuah.”
- Bemidbar (Numbers) 29:1-7 – “And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a set-apart convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is Yom Teru’ah unto you. And ye shall offer an ascending smoke offering for a sweet savour unto Yahuah; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: And their oblation shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram, and one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs: And one kid of the goats for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you:Beside the ascending smoke offering of the month, and his oblation, and the daily burnt offering, and his oblation, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner, for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto Yahuah.”
2. Yahusha Tell His Talmidiym About the Shofar Blowing
Yahusha tell His talmidiym about when He returns and the blowing of the shofar.
- Mattithyahu (Matthew) 24:30-31 – “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of A’dam in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of A’dam coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a shofar, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
3. Observance of Yom Teru’ah for Today’s Believer
We are called to continually blow the shofar to acknowledge Yahuah and His Feast days in our lives and to study His Torah and apply it in our lives.
- Tehilliym (Psalms) 81:1-5 – “Sing aloud unto Elohiym our strength: make a joyful noise unto the Elohiym of Ya’aqov. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow up the shofar in the new moon, in the moe’diym, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Yashar’el, and a law of the Elohiym of Ya’aqov. This He ordained in Yoceph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Mitsrayim: where I heard a language that I understood not.
- Ezra v’Nechemyahu (Nehemiah) 8:1-5 – “And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the Torah of Mosheh, which Yahuah had commanded to Yashar’el. And Ezra the priest brought the Torah before the assembly both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the light of day until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the Torah.”
Conclusion
Yom Teru’ah is a day to commune with Yahuah and His Son Yahusha Ha’Mashiach through this feast day the King of kings has invited us to, to celebrate His return one day soon. It is a reminder of how important it is to anticipate the shofar’s voice announcing that our King Mashiach Yahusha is hear to reign the nations with a rod of iron.
May we continually blow the shofar to announce the Feast Days of Yahuah and walking in His set-apart way, preaching our sermon by ministering the besorah of Mashiach Yahusha.
